New table
We have a new table at our house and we love it!
Cruz ate his first lunch at the table and had to have both daddy and mommy eat lunch at the table with him. He also had to go and get us some of his silverware for us to eat our food. After the first meal I think we will reserve that table for arts and crafts...it was too easy for Cruz to get up and wander instead of eating.....back to the booster seat buddy!!

So about 3 months ago I bought Cruz these really good pair of Stride Rite shoes. I bought them plenty big so he could wear them a while. I noticed about a week ago they were looking pretty scuffed up and I decided to feel where his toe was in them and it seemed to be pretty close to the end. After I felt where Cruz's toe was he had to feel where my toe was in my shoe! I decided that he might need a new pair of shoes. I took him to the shoe store to get measured and after this experience I felt so bad! His foot was measuring a 7. His little shoes were a size 6 and his snow boots that I was still putting him in were a size 5. Needless to say we bought a new pair of size 8 shoes for poor little Cruz's cramped feet. No wonder he would pull his shoes off every time he had a chance, they were too small! It is amazing how fast these little buggers grow!
We walked down to this other shoe store in the mall and Grandma R bought him these cute pair of Vans. Actually the store didn't have his size and Cruz was about to have a fit because he wanted the shoes. We had to bribe him to get out of the store and we quickly drove to their other store to buy the little Vans that fit. Cruz hasn't taken the Vans off since we bought them. We usually have a no shoe policy in our home but he just won't take them off. I actually hid them yesterday so they could have a break!!

Grant's 6th Birthday
Cruz looking up to his big cousin Grant!
Happy Birthday Grant!
We had a family celebration last night at Fat Cats bowling alley for Grant's 6th birthday. We ate yummy pizza and breadsticks, played pool, and bowled. Cruz especially liked running up and down a small ramp in the place! :) This was Cruz's first time bowling and he had a ball!
Cruz's first time up he got a strike, good job buddy! I tried to capture the score on the screen above, but it didn't come out on the picture!
The bowling alley was equipped to do bumper bowling for the kids turns and they also had this neat thing to roll the ball down, that helped a bunch!!! One time Cruz actually rolled the ball down the lane himself and it took like 10 minutes for the ball to reach the pins (atleast that is what it felt like), but Cruz was so happy to see a pin fall down!
Grandma R wasn't too happy with her rusty bowling skills, but she was a good sport anyway though!

Ham
Cruz is such a little ham. He loves to have me take pictures of him and then run around and see the picture on the view finder of the camera. Sometimes he doesn't even wait for me to take the picture and then he can't figure out why there is no image on the view finder.
Cruz has been into wearing daddy's hat. He loves to put it on and make funny faces. Yesterday he was playing with it on running around the house. All of a sudden he stopped and started blowing, he was trying to blow the fireplace out....good luck with that one kid!

Swan Valley and Valentines Day
I love this picture of my boys just hanging out. I took this one night last week before Cruz headed off to bed!
This weekend we took off for Swan Valley, Idaho. Shawn has been putting some long hours in at work, so he was able to take off around noon to hit the road. I was trying my hardest to keep Cruz awake until Shawn got home so he could nap for part of the drive up to Idaho. As you can tell from this picture he didn't quite make it. He feel asleep on the couch as I was taking some bags out to the truck!!! He was such a good trooper in the car, though. He luckily slept for about half the drive time in the car.
Cruz loves his dog, Hector, and his white blanket to go to sleep. An impressive fact, Hector was actually Shawn's when he was young. HIs mom saved it for Shawn's kids one day! We drove from our house to Idaho Falls, which takes about 3 hours. We stopped at a McDonalds playland in Idaho Falls to let Cruz run around for a bit. We arrived at my parents place in Swan Valley about 6:00 p.m.
We were lucky enough to have Grandma R join us for the weekend. When we got to the cabin we started putting things away. I opened the fridge to put some of the food away and almost threw up. There was this HORRIBLE smell coming from the fridge. It took us a second and then realized the fridge somehow had no power to it and everything in the fridge and freezer was room temperature. Luckily we don't keep too much in the place when we are not there, but it was enough to create a terrible stench! After we put Cruz down to bed, the 3 of us worked with Clorox and Kitchen Spray to try and get the fridge cleaned out!! That was not a pleasant surprise.
The next day was Valentines Day. Cruz got this school bus from the secret Valentine for Valentines Day!
Saturday afternoon we went skiing at Grand Targhee (one of my favorite ski resorts). My mom and I traded off skiing and watching Cruz.
Today we woke up to this glorious (but cold) morning. Shawn tried to capture the glistening beauty. We went to church and then on a small hike up Palisades Canyon. Overall, it was a fun weekend getaway!!

21 months old!
Cruz is 21 months old today! He really seems like a toddler instead of a baby. He seems to understand everything. He isn't talking tons, but he has several words that I know. Sometimes he likes to just jibber jabber in his own language. He really gets into it when he is talking in his own language, I always try to act like I understand, but usually I have no clue what he is talking about. Cruz is a great eater! He has gotten so much better with his spoon. Almost all of his cereal ends up in his mouth by way of spoon. He has been pushing his limits at meal times though, throwing food, pushing the plate on the floor, etc. We are approaching parenting with a love and logic approach. We don't get mad but we remove him from the situation. Love and Logic is all about giving choices and having the child take responsibility for their choices. We are going to do our best with this approach! It is a little difficult because Cruz doesn't talk much yet, but usually we think he understands his choices. Cruz loves to play- he loves his toys, he loves playing with other kids, he just loves to play. Cruz also loves to giggle! He giggles when you play peekaboo, catch, chase, tickle, etc. Cruz likes to figure out how things work....it is so interesting watching him trying to figure out things, I love seeing his brain at work. Cruz loves all of his horses and his stuffed animal friends that are in his bed. Cruz is in a Little Gym class right now and he LOVES it. He loves hanging from the bars, running around the room, walking on the balance beam, and doing flips on mats!
We love Cruz.....he keeps us both smiling! I have been working more and attending classes at night and I just miss him so much when I am away from him. I love the opportunity to be Cruz's mom!
