Halloween

Georgia -11 (early morning mom), Grant-6 (Karate Kid), Rebecca (Oscar Award), Walt-4 (spiderman), Macy -9 (Mater from Cars), and Cruz-2.5 (our construction man)
Cruz the construction worker and Rebecca the Oscar award!
Spiderman Walt, Karate Grant, Construction man Cruz!

This is the first year Cruz understood a little more of what Halloween entales. He had fun going from house to house and saying "trick or treat". He also was really polite and would say, "thank you" at most homes too. If someone said something back to him like, "no problem" or "have fun" he would repeat back to them the same thing..."no problem" or "have fun". It was pretty funny. Russ and Ali invited us plus my mom and Rebecca over for a quick bowl of soup before the kids headed out. Georgia and Macy went with some of their friends so Cruz, Shawn, and I tagged along with Russ, Grant, and Walt for some trick or treating. We went to about 7 houses in their neighborhood and then we drove back to our neighborhood for some more trick or treating fun. Shawn took Cruz to a few of the neighbors when we got home and I stayed and passed out candy. We will see if Cruz wants to trick or treat tomorrow too! I tried to tell him this was a once a year thing, so we will see!

Halloween Party at School

Grandma Raddon was able to come and see Cruz in his first Halloween Parade! The kids were pretty funny and Cruz waved at all the parents as he walked by!

Cruz had his first Halloween Party today at school. They had a little parade, made treat bags, played games, and decorated their very own pumpkins with glitter!

74

Today is my dad's 74th birthday. I met my mom, Rebecca, and Russ downtown and we drove to the cemetery late this afternoon. The grave marker was just put in place and we hadn't seen it yet. It was nice that some of the family members were around, we missed Ryan and Rich but we felt my dads spirit. We miss him so much. I think I have expressed this before but I am sort of getting used to not having him around (although I think of him everyday) and everyone says it gets easier, but in lots of ways I don't want it to get or feel easier because then it is more time that he is not with us....I don't know if that makes sense and I am tired tonight so I don't know if my writing makes sense. I truly miss him so much but I know there have been many times he has been with me helping me, watching out for me and Cruz, and sending his love to me. After the cemetery we all went to Macy's soccer game and then out to dinner to celebrate my dad. We always want to remember his legacy! We love you dad!

First pair of Cowboy boots!

Cruz got his first pair of cowboy boots this past weekend. Whenever I drive through Victor, Idaho I always stop at this cute little 2nd hand store. I have found some good finds for Cruz and the baby! My mom found these cute little boots this time and we couldn't pass up the $6 dollar deal. Cruz LOVES his cowboy boots. He is showing them off to Shawn in these pictures!

Winterizing Swan Valley

Me, Cruz, Shawn, and Grandma Raddon went up to Swan Valley from Thursday night until Sunday. It was so beautiful up there. We worked on getting the cabin winterized. We cleaned the yard up, took care of the boats, cleaned out the cupboards in the kitchen and cleaned out the fridge. I love to go up there...I don't know if it is because I have less responsibility or what, I just love it there! We played with our neighbors dogs Casey, Copper, and Todd. We jumped on the trampoline. We played on the swing set. We drove over to Victor/Driggs area for lunch one day. We floated down the Snake River (Cruz's first time on the Snake), we watched movies, I worked on another baby skirt, we talked, we ate good food, we went on long walks to feed the horses, overall just a good ol' time!

As you can tell it was a little chilly but once we got on the river, it really wasn't too bad!

My dad always used to take us down the river and I actually haven't been on the Snake without my dad, so I was missing him big time, but Shawn has done a great job of learning how to row the boat!
A great shot of Cruz with my parents house in the back round!

Cruz getting an early start on learning how to row the boat!
Cruz and Grandma Raddon. Cruz is like a Dr. Jeckell/Mr. Hyde. He can be sooooo sweet and give hugs and kisses but then he can be so naughty. If he doesn't have my undivided attention he likes to come up and bite me, hard....or destroy things while I am on the phone. We have been working on this but I bring this up because we spend time with Grandma Raddon. When he is with my mom without me he is as sweet as can be, but when it is the 3 of us hanging out and all the attention is not on Cruz, he can get very upset. He calls my mom Grams or Grammy but he can't say his "G's" that well. It usually sounds pretty close to a "G" but when Cruz is mad it comes out "D". He likes to say "NO DAM!" When he is mad at my mom. He yelled this very loud in church yesterday. Shawn took him out immediately but once he was out of our sight me and my mom busted up laughing. My moms new name is DAM! Luckily she can laugh about it! We are teaching Cruz that that is NOT o.k. but he seems to always pull that D out when he is mad!

Pumpkin Carving

Cruz digging in to get the seeds out while dad is checking out the score of the football game!

We carved our Pumpkin on Monday October 19th, 2009. Shawn did a really good job and when Cruz could concentrate long enough he was great at helping dad too! Cruz likes to show everyone our carved pumpkin that is on our front door step, he is very proud of his pumpkin!

Shawn showing Cruz the insides of the pumpkin!

I swear I didn't twist Shawn's arm to carve the pumpkin, he loves to do things with our Cruz man, he just doesn't look to happy in this picture....but Cruz does, because he LOVES to spend time with his daddy!

Scarecrow Festival

Georgia taking Cruz down one of the big blowup slides!

On Saturday we went to the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point while Dad was on his motorcycle trip with his friends. Grandma Raddon, Georgia, Macy, Grant, and Walt joined us at the festival. They had lots of games, blow up toys, and best of all for Cruz a fun toddler area to play in. Cruz even got to get his face painted.

Although the kids had fun, I don't think I would go back. I thought it was kind of a rip off. It was pretty expensive to get into and then you had to pay for a bunch of the fun things besides the entrance price. Plus some of the really cool stuff for the older kids, like the rock climbing wall had an 1.5 hour wait......they needed to limit the people they allow in or figure out a better system.

Shawn ended up doing a motorcycle trip out to the West Dessert on the 17th with his friends Tim, Marc, and Morris. They were going to be gone the whole weekend but Shawn missed Cruz and I so much they all came back late Saturday night. Actually, I am sure Shawn missed us but I don't think he would come back early from a motorcycle trip just for us :), the trip didn't really go as planned so they had a fun day riding on Saturday and then called it good. Hopefully next motorcycle trip will work out a little better! Photos of the boys!

Beautiful Fall Hike

My Boys!

We went on a little hike right after dinner tonight. I LOVE where we live, we can walk out our front door and in no time at all be in the mountains and amongst the fall trees. The trees are gorgeous right now, the Maples are just a brilliant red. We hiked up to a water tower and had an amazing view of the city and the canyon plus we saw a deer on the way down!

Pumpkin Patch

We went with our friends Lindsey and Baby William to the Pack's Pumpkin Patch yesterday morning in Farmington. It was a rather bluster day out but we still had fun! Cruz liked seeing all of the pumpkins!

and of course we had to ride the tractor!

completed projects...

I made my first valence this weekend with the help of Shawn's mom! This is in Cruz's bathroom!

Kathy also made the baby girl blackout curtains for her room!

And, I finished a skirt that I had started a couple of weeks earlier. I signed up for a skirt making class but didn't get too far on the night of class but Kathy helped me get the pattern figured out. This is for baby girl when she is around 18months!

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Frye

Cruz being a cutie!

Grandma and Grandpa Frye flew into town for a visit from Wisconsin on Wednesday morning. We picked them up and they were able to go with me to Cruz's swim lesson. They were very impressed with Cruz's swimming abilities. Cruz has really gotten good at swimming. He is able to float on his back by himself and he can swim and pick up rings off a step in the pool, and best of all there is a little slide he gets to go down at the end of his lesson. The goal right now is to be able to go from swimming to his back so he can go off the diving board. Every lesson he asks to go off the diving board!! Shawn was able to meet us for lunch after swim lessons too! Cruz showing off his scooter skills!

On Thursday Cruz had his second day of school. He was really excited to go but got a little nervous once we dropped him off. Cruz made this really cute pumpkin at school. While Cruz was at school Kathy and I were able to go to Joann Fabrics and buy material for our many projects! We even had a little time to get working on the baby's curtains for her room before Cruz came home.
Cruz's art project!
Grandma Frye and Cruz

On Friday I was able to substitute at my old school while Cruz got to play with Grandma and Grandpa Frye. Shawn was able to take the day off and work with Grandpa Frye on some projects around our house, plus get a bike ride in. That afternoon/evening we went to Gardner Village to visit the petting zoo and see all the Halloween decorations.
Shawn and Rick leaving on their mountain bike ride.
Fall family pictures at Gardner Village
Saturday was project day. Shawn and Rick worked on a bunch of stuff that was on Shawn's to do list and Kathy was able to finish baby girls curtains while I made a valence for the kids bathroom (with Kathy's help). We were even able to squeeze in a hike!
Me trying to sew and working on my baby girl skirt!
Cruz and Grandma Frye making apple chocolate chip bread together and below Cruz relaxing with Grandpa Frye after a long day of work. Cruz was very worried all weekend because Grandpa Frye lost his net when he was fishing on Thursday. When Cruz heard the bad news he got very worried and at different points throughout the weekend he would bring up the lost net. I think Cruz will have to get Grandpa a new net so he can put his little mind at ease :).

Cruz had fun playing with his grandparents and it was fun to work and play and get ready for the baby. Thanks for the fun visit grandpa and grandma Frye!
