Heatherlee

Heather came into town for her Grandma Lucy's funeral.  We were able to meet up this morning for a hike.  Heather and I were great friends in college.  I miss her!!  It was fun to go on a hike and catch up some.  She lives in Oregon with her husband and 4 kiddos.  We had a lot of fun together in college-road trips, wigs in hotel beds, popping zits, running, running half marathons, eating Magleby's, laughing, and being silly.  When I tore my ACL when I was living in Huntington Beach, she left 2 small kids to come out and help me.  She is a great friend! I love these life long friendships I have.   (p.s. it was really sunny and I didn't have sun glasses so I am looking a bit squinty).

Shawn turns 41!

Shawns birthday was yesterday (Wednesday).  I knew it was going to be a busy day, so we had cake and ice cream at Grammy's on Sunday to celebrate.  I made a carrot cake and it was pretty yummy.  Yesterday, Lexi and I met dad for lunch, we took donuts to his lacrosse team after practice, and then all went to Sushi time for a late dinner.  We love dad so much and all he does for our family!!!

Shawn was cutting up grammy's plant earlier and we decided to use the branches as an object lesson.  Last Sunday was "Palm Sunday" so we decided to use these to talk about the importance of the last week of the Saviors life.

Dinner at Sushi Time!

Boys ski day

The boys had a fun ski day at Deer Valley!

Lexi's New Aquarium

Lexi upgraded aquariums for her birthday and added a few more fish.  She is in LOVE with it.

Lexi took about 100 pictures of Pick in his tank.  She really likes this one because he plays peek a boo with her (at least she thinks he does).

Daddy Love!

Dad had to go to Houston this week and left us all sweet notes!

Cruz caught the bug

Cruz finished all 5 Percy Jackson books in about a month.  It is the first series he has completed.  He got to book 4 or 5 in Harry Potter and REALLY loved Harry Potter but it was different with Percy Jackson. He couldn't put the books down.  He would stay up way too late reading, get up early to read, and carry the books with him everywhere.  He caught the reading bug!!  I just hope I can help him find more series that he will love.

CRUZ

Yesterday I took Cruz to the University of Utah to set up his Science Fair poster.  We had to get a judge to sign off that we brought it and the judge said to Cruz, "and you are going?" it seemed like she was going to say something else but Cruz answered immediately, "to Washington D.C.".   I'm not sure what the lady was saying or if she understood his response, but I totally starting cracking up.  If he wins this competition, then the state competition, then he goes to the country competition in Washington D.C., I love his confidence.

This morning I drove him down to the U for the actual judging.  He was got more and more nervous the closer it got to 11, when all parents had to leave the science fair judging area.  I just tried to coach him through it and just told him to do his best.  It made me nervous leaving him but I am so proud of him!!
Andrew and Rex had a spot pretty close to Cruz's assigned spot.

Lexi is 6, more!

Lexi's teacher, Mrs. Genesi, posted this picture of Lexi on her instagram page the day of her birthday.  I was dying when I saw it.  I found out a few weeks ago that Lexi wears her jacket ALL day at school, even to P.E., ugh!!  Well, apparently on her birthday she wouldn't take off panda hat either.  Thus, the birthday hat on top of Panda.
On Lexi's actual birthday in the evening we had to run around doing errands and carpools (thats why we had her birthday dinner the night before).  We had some time to play at the park when Alegra was finishing up Soccer practice.  Little fin was swinging next to her.  It was so funny!!

Lexi is 6!

I can't believe my baby is 6.  I remember her birth like it was yesterday. How can I slow down time.  It is fun watching the kids grow though. Lexi is such a cute kid that says the funniest things. She is my buddy and I love having her around.  She really likes to just hang out with me (which I know I need to push her out of her comfort zone) but it is kinda cute that she just wants to be with me.  She just wanted to go to Classic Skate with me, I offered to invite a friend, but she said, "no thanks".  I love this little 6 year old.

Great weekend celebrating Lu Lu

We kinda celebrated Lexi all weekend.  On Saturday morning we went to Scheels to get Cruz some new cleats but I had forgotten they have this amazing fish tank and Lexi was LOVING it. Plus we let he get a little tiny blue fish stuffed animal at the store that she calls, Little Fin. In the afternoon we went up to Snowbird to do some skiing.  Alegra brought her friend Kate.  Cruz ended up staying at home but the girls, Shawn, and I had a blast skiing.  We came home to change quick and then grammy came to pick us up to go to dinner at Cafe Rio (Lexi's request) and to go see Peter Rabbit the movie.  The boys had tickets to the Jazz game with Cruz's scout troop, so it was a girls night out.  Lexi loved the entire evening.  On Sunday they sang to Lexi in primary and gave her this cute book mark.  For dinner that evening, Lexi requested homemade Mac N Cheese, artichokes, and strawberries.  For dessert, homemade chocolate cake.  Grammy came over for a fun evening of Uno, food, opening grammy's present, and family time.  Lexi woke up at 6:00 this morning so stoked it was her "actual" birthday.  She took pinwheels and cupcakes to her classmates at school.  After school we met Shawn for a birthday lunch at Spitz.  After lunch Lexi and I headed to Jungle Jim's, per her request.  It was closed randomly so we went to Classic Skate instead.  She had a blast jumping on the bounce houses and playing the claw arcade games.  She actually won a large squeaky frog, a smaller squezzy penguin, and a piece of candy-all from different claw games.  She must have good technique.  I love this little bug of mine.  Can't believe she is 6!!!

St. Patty's Day 2018

The Leprechaun found our house this year and left the kids a treat.  Plus left a little mess after himself in the toilet, silly leprechaun!!!

Love notes

Lexi writes me notes almost daily at school.  This one she wrote one evening and left it by the computer. I love these little treasures!

Rainbow Day at School

Today the student council selected today as "rainbow day", I think because St. Patty's falls on a Saturday this year.  Since Cruz is on student council he got to wear the rainbow wig (from when I was a kid and dressed up as a clown for halloween).

Homework Time!

Lexi made her own "book" while she was waiting for dinner
St. Patty's day rice krispy treats and a spelling pre-test to prepare for Fridays spelling test.
Reflex math for this little lady.  Alegra is so dedicated at getting her homework done.  Right now she has the busiest schedule of all the kids but she manages to get all her work done-with perfect writing, which sometimes drives me crazy as I see the clock getting later and later.  But she will not turn in sloppy work, which is a great skill.

Field tripping with Lexi's class

I was selected to be one fo the chaperones for Lexi's Kindergarten field trip to the aquarium yesterday.  She was so excited to have me along.  It was crazy to keep track of my kiddos (only 5) but so much fun!!

Love notes

Lexi brings me home love notes all the time from kindergarten, telling me how much she loves me.  I LOVE IT!!! I love that little bug so much.  On Monday she decided to leave it on the front door step and act like it was a deliver to "kelly-Klly".  So cute

Food, mascot, and dinner!

Sunday night crepes and this boy is a master!
Alegra brought home the class mascot and she has to write about what she did with the class mascot
Look at Lexi's face, I think she liked dinner!

Saturday

Rebecca and Pierce flew into town for a quick trip to celebrate Egans wedding.  The girls and I gladly watched Pierce for a bit while Rebecca was at the wedding and the boys were at lacrosse tryouts.
Saturday afternoon family ski day at Solitude.  This makes my heart so happy!!
