Idaho and my 46th birthday!

The kids and I drove up to Idaho on Sunday afternoon.  We got to the cabin at about 4 and grammy, Katie, Ezra, and Clara pulled in shortly after.  The kids had fun playing together while we put the mexican bean salad together for dinner.

January 11th, 2021-my 46th birthday. Woke up to this beautiful, chilly sunrise.  I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to be a wife, mom, sister, aunt, daughter, and any other hat I'll take.
We got the atv running and with snow packed roads the  kids were able to pull each other. They had a blast!

We ate a quick lunch and then went to the top of Pine Creek pass to do some sledding on a sledding hill.  They got some major air and Olive and I had fun exploring.  Then we had to drive a little further to get a huckleberry shake.  Back to hot tub, play more games, and fix dinner.  Grammy fixed me a dinner of steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and asparagus.  It was so yummy!  They sang to me and we had carrot cake.  It was a really great birthday!!!
Me and my babies!

Trying a timed photo-I think we got it!! :)

A little wrestling match after!

Who's ready to hot tub?
I think Lexi really liked the huckleberry syrup the next morning!

Happenings....

Olive loves this little gingerbread man toy.  She got it with a set last Christmas and she tore the whole set apart and to shreds within weeks, but she is so gentle and careful with her gingerbread man.
Alegra started arial yoga once a week with Bella.
Also, on Tuesday night the Young Woman came over to give Alegra a little welcome bag for going into Young Woman's. I can't believe my baby is in young woman's!

Snuggle and reading time!

On Saturday the kids and I decided that we would head up to Idaho on Sunday for a couple of days. We would be there over my birthday so we had a family birthday celebration on Saturday night.  Alegra and Shawn went and picked out some bath bombs and candles at the mall and a red velvet bundt cake.  We had a fun night together.  My friend Micki gave me this very cool plate (to not ruin my countertop) and I opened it up before we left.

Friends

Starting this New Year 2021 - I am grateful. I am grateful for really good friends like Heather.  We met at BYU and we lived together our Junior and Senior years.  I love her because she is positive, upbeat, smart, fun to be around, and I feel like I can be myself.  Whenever she comes into town we try to get together to hike.  Lately with her kids at school at BYU she has come into town more and it has been to see her more.

New Years Eve

We had a pretty quiet New Years Eve day and New Years Eve night.  Cruz had ski team Christmas camp and Shawn, the girls, and I ran up to ski a few runs at Snowbird before picking Cruz up.   Cruz had requested sushi and I had heard of a good place called Kobe Sushi. I waited till 5 to call and then I couldn't get through and later realized they had moved locations.  I then called another sushi place we know of but the call wait was 25 calls, so we switched plans!  We ended up getting High Note. Shawn, the girls and I had a fun mellow night of watching tv and eating thai food.  Cruz went with a couple of friends to a friends ax throwing place.   Before Cruz had left I had them fill out these papers to remember 2020 and to help me remember what their likes and dislikes are.  I love their answers on the paper.  Cruz was brought home at 10 with some bad news.  One of the kids he was with, their parents tested positive for Covid and they received the call while at the party.  Unfortunately no one was wearing masks and we had asked Cruz to wear a mask but I think the peer pressure got to him and he didn't wear a mask. So, now it is a waiting game. I am hoping the kid never tests positive and then we don't have to worry as much.  The girls and I stayed up to 11 p.m. watching a movie and then called it good.  That is very late for us!!

Even though 2020 was a bit of a challenge, we have so much to be grateful for. I haven't always been in this space the entire 8 months, but I am trying to move forward in this phase of gratitude.  Shawn has his job, the kids get to be in school, and they have gotten to participate in their activities for the most part.  We were able to remodel our bathroom and pretty much the main floor without too many complications.  We are able to attend sacrament meeting in person and we have spent a lot of time together as a family playing games, doing fun day trips, and eating meals together.  So far no one has gotten sick and we have been able to spend time with my mom on holidays and other occasions to make this time better.  Yes, there is an underlying fear but for the most part we have tried to adjust and continue on. I hope my kids learn resiliency through this.  Here's to a New Year and taking time to learn things from this past year.
