We left on Thursday December 23rd for Puerta Vallarta Mexico. We arrived in Puerta Vallarta at about 4:30 p.m. Grandma Frye and the Wilkens flew out that morning from Chicago O'Hare airport in a blizzard, but miraculously they got out. We all meet at the Hyatt Ziva about 45 minutes South of the Puerta Vallarta Airport and about a 5 minute bus ride into downtown Puerta Vallarta.
We had fun playing beach volleyball, spike ball, soccer, swimming, eating, and hanging out. On Christmas morning we took a matching family pajama pant picture.
On day we took a cab into town to take a boat ride to see the coast and snorkel by some rocks that were in a National Park. The snorkeling was not great but the ride was pretty. Our boat didn't see any whales, but the boat with the boys in it did see whales. Afterwards, Cruz, Alegra, Shawn, and I stayed in town a bit to do some more shopping and hanging out.
The hotel had a lot of fun water aerobics and activities going all day long.
One day we did a big group excursion into Puerta Vallarta on the city bus. The bus ride into town was packed, Shawn was practically hanging out the door. The bus ride back to the Hyatt was a little roomier.
Walked to find these letters, see the pretty church in town, and shop.
The bay we were at was only for Hyatt Ziva guests. In some ways this was nice because there weren't lots of other people or tons of peddlers. The drawback was that it made for short walks on the beach. The other drawback was the surf break. The waves broke right on the beach which made it pretty dangerous to play in the waves and no boogie boarding.
These 2 wanted room service one night for dessert.
It was nice to be in the sun and enjoy some family time. The sunsets were pretty incredible most evenings too!
