83rd birthday for grammy!

 Sunday was grammy's birthday!  We had her come over for Sunday dinner.  All she requested was something she doesn't make and she said she liked our greek chicken dish.  So, that was an easy request to fill.  We had our greek chicken dinner and I made a homemade peach pie.  It was such a nice evening.  After church on Sunday Alegra decided she wanted to make a scrap book for grammy for her birthday.  It was fun to listen and watch the girls put it together for grammy.  It took their whole afternoon but they giggled and worked together well.  It was so fun to watch!  We love grammy so much!

 I came home from the gym and errands yesterday (Friday) to see this on the back of the car Cruz drives....that kid!!

Our golden anniversary - 19 years married on today August 19th

 Pictures loaded reverse...so this first picture is of us back at the truck, tired after a great hike.  

We started hiking at about 8:30 and we hiked 5.5 hours.  We hiked 10.5 miles and gained 3,100 ft vert.  We made it to the saddle of Pfeirfferhorn.  Our plan was to make it to the top but I looked up and it was straight up with lots of bouldering. Maybe one day I will do it, but it looked a bit sketchy to me.  Plus, we wanted to be back when the kids got home from school to hear about their days!

We saw some beautiful mountain lakes

3.5 to Red Pine Lake.  About an hour and 20 minutes to get here. We were moving pretty good at this point.  To Red Pine we should plan about a 3 hour round trip (want to remember this for the future).

Marriage is a lot like climbing a mountain peak - it's hard, and fun, and beautiful, and tricky, and amazing.  It was a great thing to do on our anniversary to remember all the emotions!

First day pictures!

 

Pictures loaded in reverse again. Lexi was the last to leave for school.  We left at 7:35 a.m. this morning for Albion. She was excited and nervous. I was a little sad watching her walk in without Alegra by her side ( like she had last year) but I am excited for a great year for her!  

Our 2 high schoolers!  So glad they have 1 year together!  

Cruz's Last First Day :(

 When I figured this out this morning - this is Cruz's last first day of school (besides college) I got so emotional!  I went through the pictures to find all of his first day photos.  Love seeing his growth and progress but literally the kindergarten one feels just like yesterday :(.  

Family movie night before school starts

We are all so sad summer is over :(.  It was an amazing summer.  We closed out summer with a family movie night tonight!  It was a rainy night, so kinda fitting!  

 

Saturday night

 My Aunt Susie was in town on Saturday.  With the promise of Royal India for dinner we were able to get all the kids to hang out with us for a bit on Saturday night. Of course, they had to go hangout with friends later in the evening, but I'll take what I can get!  It was such a nice dinner.  On the way home Lexi asked if we could get her toenails done.  She had been asking for a few days (she never asks for nails) so we thought it would be a nice back to school thing.  The girls and I ran into the salon right before they closed and were able to get our toe nails done. Shawn took Cruz home to go hang out with friends.  Shawn came back to the salon a little early to hang out with us.  

 

Friday night/Saturday morning

 Cruz hiked Mt Timpangos with his friends starting at 2:14 a.m. Saturday morning and finished about 11 a.m Saturday morning.  Super proud of him!
