New Year's Eve 2009
I have never been a huge fan of New Years...it always seems so overrated. Also, with a newborn and a 2 year old we didn't make too many plans for the big celebration! Shawn worked most of the day. When he got home he took Cruz to our neighborhood sled hill. Cruz loves to go sledding, he has the funniest laugh when he goes down the hill. When the boys came home we packed up the kids and headed to In and Out. I love In and Out hamburgers, I would always eat there when I lived in California. Well, Utah got an In and Out about 2 months ago in Draper. I really wanted to go but I didn't want to fight the crowds. We finally went last night at my request. It was crowded but not too bad! I love their cheeseburgers (animal style) and french fries, so yummy as Cruz says! We came home and played in the playroom some and then put the kids down. Shawn and I actually watched a movie instead of going straight to bed (we have been a little sleep deprived lately). It was a very enjoyable evening and we didn't even see the stroke of midnight, but I am just fine with that. I saw several other early hour numbers on the alarm clock last night so I didn't miss out too much not to see 12:00! We hope everyone has a great 2010!

Crack up!
Cruz is such a crack up sometimes! He has really gotten into pretending and it is so much fun to see what he comes up with. These pictures are of him fishing in Idaho. We have a corner of the house that is the dedicated Idaho spot! He loves to go fishing and Grandpa Frye and Grandpa Raddon would be so proud! Lately he has had this fascination with fire, which I know is not a good thing, but he says everything is on fire and he is going to put it out. I think he got this from a restaurant we went to...it was one of those Japanese places that they cook with fire in the center of your table....that was like 2 months ago, but it is amazing what little minds remember. He loves to play with his legos and make buildings, barns, pools, parks, etc...and then pretend with his little people. I love to hear him play and talk when I am making dinner, it is so funny! Dad went skiing with Doug this afternoon for just a little bit and after they left Cruz turns to me and says, "Where are Shawn and Doug going?" That made me laugh! Yesterday Cruz told me he was going to go skiing up at Snowbird today too! He wanted me to come and hold Alegra while I was skiing!
Alegra has been so sweet and good. She is a very relaxed baby. She is happy most of the time, unless I haven't done a good job of getting a burp out and then she can be a little fussy! I love dressing her in her pink clothes and putting little bows in her hair. I love hearing Cruz call her "sweetie"!
Cruz fighting his nap, so this is him at 5 o'clock in the evening!
2009 coming to a close!
I have been thinking back on how blessed we have been this year. 2009 has been a good year for our family, adding a new little member to our unit of 3, now a unit of 4!
JANUARY: We had a blast in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico with the Raddon family. The weather wasn't too great but it was fun to hang out with all 19 Raddon's!
FEBRUARY: I substitute taught some and I attended a parenting class in the evening that went toward keeping my teaching credential current (and I feel like everything I learned went out the door with a stubborn 2.5 year old, keep trying, right?!?), Grandpa and Grandma Frye came for a visit, and Shawn tried to get some skiing in!
MARCH: A trip to Idaho, a trip to California for Cruz and Mom, fun times in the snow, and playing with our cousins that now live in Utah (Walt (4), Grant (6), Macy (9), and Georgia (11)).
APRIL: Easter, cousins birthday parties, and play time with Dad!
MAY: A trip to Wisconsin before Cruz turned 2 (so he could ride free). Celebrating a second birthday and announcing we were pregnant (found out the Friday before Mothers Day).
JUNE: A rainy start to the summer, a math class for mom, and a summer trip to Idaho!
JULY: 2 weeks in Idaho for mom and Cruz and a three day 4th of July break for dad up in Idaho, boating, tubing, and swim lessons! Oh yea, we found out we were having a girl in July!
AUGUST: Lazy days of summer at the public pool, cousins visiting from California, and watching the Tour De Utah!
SEPTEMBER: Cruz starts Mothers Morning Out, Shawn competes in the Xterra Triathlon, and Kelly has a girls trip up to Idaho.
OCTOBER: Grandpa and Grandma Frye visit, a trip to Swan Valley to close the cabin, seeing Ryan in concert, and Halloween fun!
NOVEMBER: Shawn fixing the driveway and getting ready for baby and on the 22nd Alegra joined our family!
DECEMBER: The month of adjustment, Christmas time, and hanging out at home!

Christmas
The kids on Christmas Eve!
We had a wonderful Christmas at the Frye household yesterday! Cruz put out some milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve. When he was putting them out though, he had to take a bite of cookie and a swig of milk. It was pretty funny! By morning, Cruz had sort of forgot about Christmas so Shawn and Cruz went down to the basement to work out until Alegra and I were up. They came up to get us and we really talked Santa up. We headed down the stairs to see if Santa visited our house. On our way to the tree Cruz stopped in his playroom. Shawn and I were by the tree trying to cox Cruz in to see the presents but he said he just wanted to play in the play room (with all of his old toys). Once Cruz came into the family room and saw the presents though, he was pretty excited. He started unwrapping presents and then he just wanted to unwrap the presents quickly, he didn't care who they were for or really what was in them. Shawn and I kind of had to slow him down and make him look at his presents. Cruz got a very nice barn and barn animals, some build it bigger building set, clothes, books, a music cd, a movie, a mickey mouse shirt, a mickey mouse watch, and a mickey mouse pillowcase. We are really into Mickey Mouse right now, plus we are going to Disney World in a few weeks, so we are getting ready for the Mickey Mouse excitement. Alegra pretty much chilled and ate during the unwrapping madness. She got some clothes, an ornament, a Minnie Mouse blanket, and a cute doll.
Later in the day Cruz and Shawn went sledding up at Matt and Laynee's house up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Matt's family from Wisconsin was in town visiting, so Shawn had fun catching up with family friends and Cruz had a blast sledding down their road!
In the afternoon/evening we went to Grandma Raddon's house for some yummy food and family time! Russ, Ali, Georgia, Macy, Grant, Walt, and Rebecca were there plus Rich, Katie, Nick, and Clara were in town from Santa Monica. Cruz had a blast playing with his cousins, hot tubbing, and playing with some of their toys! Grandma Raddon put on a great meal and it was fun to hand out and catch up with the fam!

One Month
Alegra is one month old today. Grandma and Grandpa Frye left some gifts at our house for baby Alegra for each month she gets older. This cute little doll is the gift they left for her 1st month milestone!
Cruz not wanting to be left out of the action!
Grandma Frye also made this very beautiful wall hanging for Alegra's room. It fits the room perfect, thank you!
This month seems to have flown by.....we have pretty much chilled at home most of the month because it has been pretty chilly in Utah, plus we are trying to stay healthy with a newborn at home. She is a pretty easy going baby so far! She nurses well, but sometimes doesn't burp too easily. Two days ago she had pretty bad gas/spit up so we gave her some gas relief drops and it seemed to help settle her stomach....I really hope it is just gas and not acid reflex! She is pretty consistent at night, waking up every 3 hours to eat. She actually stretched it closer to 3 hours and 45 minutes last night between 3 of the feedings and that was pretty nice! She naps pretty well during the day and she seems to withstand Cruz's loud noises pretty good. We love her so much and Cruz loves her so much. He will say in this cute voice, "she's so cute." Or "Hi, sweety."
A Girl and Her Accessories!
Alegra Getting So Big! She is one month old today!
So cute!
A little girl can't have too many accessories! I took a picture of her shoe (which for babies are pretty much socks) and hat collection today....kinda makes me laugh, she already has a shoe collection, that might spell trouble for the future! :)
A friend of ours gave us these cute reindeer shoes yesterday! They play "jingle bells" too!

Streaking!
Cruz in one of his sour moods (sometimes he can be Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde...he is Dr. Jeckel here!)
On Friday I made a haircut appointment for Cruz at our favorite haircut place, Cookie Cutters. Cruz really likes getting his haircut there because he gets to watch a video and sit in a special car seat while he gets his haircut. I haven't been out of the house much with both kids by myself, but I was feeling pretty good about this...one quick haircut and thats it...what could go wrong? Well, we walked into the place and we had to wait about 10 minutes for the lady that cuts his hair. Cruz was having fun running around the place and all of a sudden he said, "pee pee!". I said, "qucik, lets go!" Then I looked down and saw the huge puddle on the ground and his pants completely soaked. This typically wouldn't be a problem since we are used to accidents, but I packed Alegra's diaper bag really great for a blow out, but I forgot Cruz's bag!!! Think quick, what to do! I decided to strip Cruz down to his underwear and have him sit and get his haircut in his underwear. Luckily the haircut lady was really nice and said that was fine. I asked for rags and a disinfectant and I quickly cleaned up the puddle. The haircut went smooth and luckily Alegra was just sleeping through this! I disinfected the seat after we were done and then I took all our bags to the front to pay. I was trying to pay, get Alegra, pick up all the bags, and I looked around to see what Mr. Cruz was up to and all I see is this tiny pair of underwear laying on the floor. My son was streaking thought the haircut place being a crazy man! He then tried to go down the little toy slide they have there and I quickly grabbed him. If I were a parent watching this I would not want some naked pee pee kid going down the slide my child was going down. I was trying to take naked Cruz out to the car (kicking and screaming) and grab Alegra in the car seat. I was sweating at this point. There was some nice mom in the place that had her husband with her, so she offered to carry Alegra to the car for me while her husband watched her kids. I gratefully accepted her offer and carried naked Cruz to the car and quickly buckled him in and thanked the lady and got Alegra in the car. I can now look back at this little experience and laugh.....I just picture those little green underwear on the floor and looking across the room at Cruz running for dear life!
Mr. Hyde- Cruz being a good big brother and holding his sister......he holds her for a few minutes and then he will say, "she's so heavy!"

Daddy Son ski trip and Pizza eating!
Shawn took Cruz up skiing this afternoon. They had a great time. Shawn said Cruz did really well. After the first run they had to take a potty stop and Cruz was enticed by the pizza, so they decided to eat lunch too! After lunch they made another run down the hill. Cruz is doing a pretty good job skiing on his own with daddy holding the edgy-wedgy!

Christmas excitement!
Grandma Raddon bought these jammies for Cruzy but I am sure the saying holds true for both grandmas! Hallelujah Cruz is taking a nap today. That has been a difficult thing since Alegra has come home. He fights it so bad but by 6 p.m. he is so exhausted and naughty, it is tough. Today for some miraculous reason he went down!! Cruz is having fun finding an elf each day (at night the elf goes to the North Pole to report how Cruz was behaving, and each morning he hides somewhere different for Cruz to find). Alegra is such a sweet girl. She is sleeping pretty well and seems pretty easy going....lets just hope that continues!

my little helper
Cruz really likes to help out with Alegra. Sometimes I don't find it so helpful though! :) Cruz gave Alegra Hector his dog to play with...this is where it ended up!
Shawn brought home a Christmas tree Friday night after work. Cruz and daddy did a great job decorating it early Saturday morning. Cruz had fun going through all of the Christmas tupperwares finding Christmas treasures!!

Family pictures
We took family pictures 8 days after Alegra was born. I wanted to get newborn photos of her and I figured since I was taking her in we should at least get a family photo. There are more coming but here are just a couple to preview. I am really happy with how they turned out (of course a girl never likes herself in photos but I think the rest of the family looks great)!
Why cause?
