Last Monday January 12, 2009 we boarded a plane for Cancun, Mexico. The flight was 4 1/2 hours and that was a little long for our Cruz man, but we lucked out and got an extra seat on the flight. We landed at the Cancun airport and took a shuttle bus to our hotel, about 30 minutes away in Playa Del Carmen. Quickly after arriving, the rest of the gang showed up too, 19 of us in total! One major problem though, it was raining and a little damp. We had high hopes for the weather though, we had never before had rain when we went to Mexico.
Cruz shopping in Playa Del Carmen
Tuesday January 13, 2009 - The next morning we woke up and it was cloudy and rainy. We decided to check out the grounds of the hotel, it was pretty impressive!! That afternoon a bunch of us headed into the town of Playa Del Carmen for some shopping, still no sun!
One of our many fun meals!
Wednedsday January 14, 2009 - Cloudy but no rain this day. We decided to go see the Mayan Ruins at Coba and Tulum. The ruins were very impressive and this took us most of the day! Sasha and Mia got a 12 hour flu so their family had to stay home for this expedition.
Thursday January 15, 2009 - No sun but not as dark as the other 2 days! We decided to make the best of it and hang out at the beach and play!
Friday January 16, 2009 - The sun poked through a few times this day. Can you tell my family likes the sun? It just makes the ocean and pools so much more fun if you are warm. We played at the little playground the hotel had and had fun with our cousins!
Saturday January 17, 2009 - We had sun people! The group went to Xel-Ha, everyone except Walt and Ali because Walt picked up a pretty nasty cold. With 19 people it is hard to keep everyone healthy! Xel-Ha was this beautiful park that was all natural with snorkeling, cliff jumping, rope swinging, etc. We had a blast!
Sunday January 18, 2009 - SUNNY!!! Beach, pools, etc at our hotel!
Monday January 19, 2009 - SUNNY! Last day :( Shawn Cruz, and I were at the beach by 9:00 to get in as much playtime as we could get.
Overall, it was so fun to be with family, chat, sight see, hang out, play, and just relax!
