Golden Birthday!

Cruz turned 5 yesterday on May 5th, it was his "golden birthday"! He had a wonderful day, but he did say the best part was opening his presents!! :) The day started early with a bike race at 5 Mile Pass. We all got loaded up and headed out there about 7:30a.m. Cruz's race started at 9:00a.m. Dad road behind him because it was a real race, with a real race course, and far away from the spectators. Shawn said he did great. Cruz placed 12 out of 12 but he was also the youngest rider too! He did awesome, there were some technical parts, sand, and cold conditions. Shawn and Jeff were riding at 10:00. Jeff was all into helping Cruz get ready and he waited with me and the girls at the finish line. We saw dad and Jeff off. After all the riders departed they had a little award ceremony for the kid riders. It was pretty cute. After the ceremony the kids and I came home. We had to get ready for the party!!! :)
Cruz's party was "Lego Themed". He wanted to only invite Carter, Sydney (a girl in our neighborhood and who goes to church with Cruz), and his cousins Grant and Walt. I kept trying to get him to invite the neighbor kids or some of his other friends who had invited him to their birthday parties, but he didn't want anyone else. I don't know what kid party etiquette is, but I figured it was his party, he should have a say on who comes. It was a pretty laid back party. I saved the lego decorations from the other day and I made a cake. I also made homemade pizza to have for dinner. Once the 4 kids arrived we had dinner, they were so busy talking and being goofy that no one really ate. The kids then played outside on the trampoline, on the new slack line that dad got Cruz, and in the sand pit. Before the kids came over for the party Cruz skyped with Grandpa and Grandma Frye and they got to watch him open their gift. They got him a Lego Ninjago kit (which he has totally been into lately). Cruz was super excited to get that. He wanted to show his friends and they helped him work on that too. We then opened presents. Cruz got a 2 wheel scooter from Grammy, a beach towel and water ball from Grant and Walt, another Lego Ninjago set from Carter, an angry birds swimsuit and shirt from me, and a Nerf gun from Sydney. He was super excited. After all of that he thought he was done but then we gave him a clue to where one more present was. All the kids ran upstairs behind Cruz in a frenzy. He opened the laundry room door and there was a Torteise. Cruz was kind of in a state of shock, he couldn't really believe there was a turtle in his laundry room. After he got out of shock, quickly named him "T". All the kids thought it was so cool. They then ran down to play more Legos, but it was so cute, every few minutes Cruz had to go check on T! Before all the kids left we had some cake. All in all it was a pretty good day! I was exhausted and so were Cruz and Alegra, that is a sign of a good day!
