Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta Mexico-Raddon Family Trip 2016

We got back last night from a wonderful week in Nuevo Vallarta, staying at the Marival Resort.  We left last Saturday about 11 a.m.  We had a direct flight to Puerto Vallarta, only a 3 hour flight to sun and warmth.  By the time we got settled into the room Saturday, it was close to dinner time, but there was still light out so we headed to the beach.  It was amazing!!!!

Sunday Feb. 14th- We all ate breakfast at different places on the resort.  The Marival is an all inclusive resort so all food and drinks are paid for already.  We met at Russ and Ali's room at 10 for a little Valentines message and church service by grammy.  She asked us all to say how we can be examples of a follower (of Christ).  It was really nice to hear from everyone.  We went to the beach and pool, back and forth all day long.  We met for dinner at the buffet place at 7:00 and tried to somewhat sit near each other. During the day grammy and I set up an excursion for Thursday and tried to get reservations at some of the sit down places to eat at the resort, but with our size of group, it was very difficult, so we did make one reservation for just the adults one evening.

Monday Feb. 15th - Again another great day at the beach and pool.  The only problem was that Cruz woke up with a really bad ear ache.  He isn't my ear infection kid, but he was in a lot of pain.  At 11 the doctor on the premises showed up and she checked his ears.  Sure enough, they were really red inside.  She tried to talk Cruz into getting a shot but he really didn't want a shot.  So we decided to go with oral antibiotics, the only problem was, I thought she had them right there to give to me.  But I had to go up to the conceriege and coordinate with them to coordinate with the pharmacy to drop them off.  When the concierge was on the phone it seemed somewhat problematic and I was getting uneasy.  Plus,  it took longer for the oral antibiotic to take effect and Cruz couldn't go in the water for 3 days.  With the shot, he felt better almost instantly and he could go in the water the next day.  I knew Rich had been thinking of taking Clara to go swim with the dolphins so I promised Cruz if he would get the shot that I would take him to do that.  That was my ticket.  He conceded.  I stopped the concierge from making the arrangements and we went back down to the doctor to get the shot.  Right before she was going to give the shot though, she said, "oh, and you need one more in the morning."  Cruz got the shot in his hip/butt cheek area and the kids cried SOOOOO hard.  I felt terrible for him.  He went up to the room to hang out and I went out to the pool to check on the girls.  Shawn had gone to Sayulita (30 minute cab ride) for the day with Rich and Dave to check out the surf.  Grammy was keeping an eye on the girls.  The rest of the day the kids just played and played and drank and drank pina coladas.  I think they averaged 6 to 7 a day!!!!  We met again at the buffet for dinner.  It was nice because we ate later so we hung out on the beach till it was getting almost sunset.

Grammy had the girls hair braided while I was at the doctor, so cute!!!
 Farrah loved the guacamole

Tuesday Feb. 16th - Adventure Day......A bunch of us went to Sayulita after breakfast.  Cruz got his second shot in the morning, and he reacted much better to the second one.  We took the local bus there, which took a bit over an hour, but it was an experience.  We all hopped in taxi's for the ride home. We ate lunch, shopped a bit, Shawn and I surfed, boogie boarded, and enjoyed the quant town.  (this is where Shawn took me for my for my 40th birthday, so it was fun to show the kids).  Ryan and the girls showed up this night.  The Grammy's were Monday night and Ryan was up for a Grammy, but unfortunately he didn't win.  Naomi didn't come with them because she was having some medical issues.
The bus group- Katie, Ezra, David, Rebecca, and Farrah opted for a taxi so Farrah could get a nap before they came.  They showed up about 15 minutes after we got to Sayulita.

We got back to the Marival and Ryan and the girls had arrived.  Algera was in heaven.  Isla came out in this suit and Alegra quickly ran up to Lexi's suitcase and put on Lexi's suit.  She told me she is a 3T, 4T, 5T, and 6T......the suit was a 3T and it looked a little tight, but whatever, they were happy they were twinners!!!!

Wednesday Feb. 17th- We hung out at the beach and pool and at about 1:30 some of us went to swim with the dolphins. I kept my promise to Cruz and we went.  I had never done this and secretly kind of always wanted to do this.  It was fun but I wanted more time in the pools with the dolphins.  I thought it was cool to pet the dolphin and we all got to ride it belly to belly holding on to the flippers.  We went back to the hotel and hung out.  The days seriously would go by so fast.  That night we had an adult dinner at 8:30. so we all fed the kids earlier and then put them down and then had Georgia, Macy, and Medieval watch the kids.  The dinner that night wasn't that good, but it was so fun to be together with all the adults.  We decided though, we were better off with the kids at the buffet.

 Girls and her braids
 Our dolphin adventure!!!
Alegra was loving boogie boarding, Dave was so nice to help her out!
Grammy even got out with the help of Russ to boogie board.  She even caught a few smaller ones and one really good one!

Thursday Feb. 18th - Adventure Day.  We had to wake up early this day to get a taxi to take it to a boat that was taking us out to an island.  Algera woke up saying her stomach hurt, but I thought it was just because we got her up early.  Ezra, Rich, and Katie didn't make it though because Ezra and Katie had started feeling sick in the night.  That started getting me worried but we went ahead.  Algera did end up throwing up on the boat ride, but she just had to stick her head over and throw up.  She seemed to perk up a bit when we got to the island.  They had paddle boarding, snorkeling, and a clay making area.  Then the kids from 4-11 got to have a monkey climb on them, ride a donkey, and do a zip line.  It was really cool, this was Cruz's most favorite day.  The beach was beautiful, the water was amazing, and the kids loved the zip lining.  We ate lunch around 1:30 on the island and then took the boat back home.  Like I said before though, the days just seemed to fly by.

 That bum!!!!
Lexi had the camera bag on her head the whole afternoon, she is a funny one!!!

Tuckered out after a fun day!!!

After a bit of rest from our adventure we cleaned up and took family pictures at sunset!!

Friday Feb. 19th- Hung out at the beach and pool all day.  The only bummer about this day is that at our beach there was a large number of sting ray in the water so they wouldn't let us check out boogie boards.  The pina colada consumption continued to rise with the kids and they found a few other concoctions they liked, one called the garfield, ticket to fly, mango vice, and strawberry daiquiri.  Algera and Isla were attached at the hip.  Lexi played with Ezra, Elle, and Walker and ALL the kids loved playing with baby Farrah.  It was fun for Rebecca and I to run together a few mornings on the vacation and it was fun to run in warm weather.
Grammy wanted a picture with her and all the grandkids.  This is the best we could get, not perfect, but as good as it is going to get!!

There was a video arcade right by the buffet that was totally free too.  Cruz was in there every night after dinner along with his cousins!!!

Saturday Feb. 20th - Last Day, bummer.  We were at the pool and beach as soon as the sun was out.  And at 11, the activities guy said the stingrays were cleared up some so we all got to go boogie boarding.  One of the funnest memories of yesterday was catching a wave with Cruz, Shawn, Rebecca and David and all riding it in together.  It was the party wave.  Plus, I had forgotten how fun boogie boarding is.  We stayed out to the very last minute we could and then we rushed to shower, pack bags up, eat a quick lunch, check out, and get our taxi to go to the airport.  Our flight was only 3 hours home, but we got a bit delayed leaving so we got home an hour later than we expected.

I have to say, I am in a bit of a slump today.  It was so fun having something to look forward to.  It was so fun to be in warm and sun.  It was so fun to be with my siblings and their children, and to have kids for my kids to play with.  It was fun to have no responsibilities, no dinner to make, no nagging about homework, just fun and enjoying each others company.  I will get back into the swing of things, but boy was last week fun!!!
