Hookie

 I let the kids play hookie from some of school today to ski at Alta.  First of all, we hadn't used our ski day at Alta and Alta is closing soon.  And second, Ezra was really excited to go skiing and then he kept backing out.  So today I took all the kids over to grammy's house to peer pressure him and Ezra ended up coming and he did have a blast.  Grammy also came which was fun.  I mostly stayed behind her. We just skied the Sunnyside lift for Ezra and Grammy and although my kids can ski harder hills I was so proud of their good attitude of encouraging Ezra and Grammy.  At the end Grammy fell and it scared me so bad.  The snow was a bit faster than the time we skied before.  It was sunny today but very cold and so the snow didn't warm up, so it stayed kinda icier and faster.  Luckily she kinda just fell over when she was trying to come to a stop.  The problem was we were kinda on a flat part so it was tricky trying to figure out how to help her to stand up.  Mom and I finally decided to take her skies off and then she was able to flip over and get on her knees to stand.  Luckily grammy was kinda laughing the whole time.  Really it was such a nice day.  We skied till about 2:30 and then they left for the airport.  I took the kids home and picked up Costa Vida for a late lunch.  We had such a nice afternoon together!

Shawn turns 44!

On Sunday March 28th, 2021-Shawn turned 44!  We had a nice day celebrating him.  He is always so serviceable to us we tried to think of ways to serve him.  Alegra made up a cute dance to a song "My dad is my superhero", the kids wrote notes, and we got dad a 911 porcshe car, since that is his big present. Cruz and him leave on Friday to go pick it up! He is really excited about it, so that makes me happy.  We went over to dinner at Grammy's house to celebrate Shawn with Grammy and Uncle Rich, Aunt Katie, Ezra, and Clara who were in town.  

I made carrot cake for dessert and I do think he liked it, which made me happy.  Happy birthday Shawn! Thank you for being a great husband, father, caretaker, and guy!

 

I love skiing

 

Sometimes I am not sure I love skiing and then we have a day like Friday afternoon and I love it!  We had stuff to do in the morning but we headed up Friday afternoon for a few hours. It was snowy and the visibility wasn't great but it was so fun.  Cruz went off to do a few runs by himself and the girls and I headed to Baby Thunder.  We just had fun. We ended the day going over to Wilbur to ski with Uncle Russ and Uncle Rich (who was in town).  The girls were getting cold by that point so we only skied 1 run with them.  Overall, it was just such a great day!

Last 2 indoor games

 

Alegra's soccer team had their last 2 indoor games last night.  They won both of them, which was nice.  Indoor hasn't been as smooth as outdoor but hopefully they have learned a lot!!!

Lexi Lu Turns 9

 Yesterday was Lexi's birthday.  Because Covid is still an issue we didn't do a friend birthday party.  I tried to do everything she asked for.  Grammy Raddon came and took her to breakfast at Black Bear Diner.  Lexi stayed in her pajamas all day (per her request).  She ate romin for lunch.  During the day she requested to go swimming, so I called my friend Ruki and she was able to go over with Alegra and swim.  We had chilly cheese dogs for dinner with homemade buns and chili for dinner and homemade chocolate cake to sing to Lexi.  We watch the BFG, another request to watch a movie on her birthday.  She opened presents throughout the day.  Some of the things she got: a new iPad mini, a Jazz jersey,  a basketball whiteboard, new basketball shoes, and a Disney Stitch stuffed animal.  I tried to spoil her!

Then grammy came over to take her to breakfast.  So happy they could spend some time together just one on one.  Grammy came in to watch Lexi open the gift from her.  It was an iPad mini.  Shawn and I went in on this gift too since it was pricey.  Because she didn't have a party (the last 2 years due to Covid) we went a little overboard on presents :).  

Cruz was cute and played battleship and twister with her.  

In the afternoon Lexi FaceTimed Grandma Frye and opened up her gift.  It was a Mike Conley jersey, a jazz player.  

Then our good friends, the Hansens brought this cute yard sign over and a puzzle for Lexi.

Swimming at Ruki's.  She had this sign out for another boy but we took advantage of taking a picture in front of it.  Ruki had  present for her and helped celebrate Lexi!

We can't get enough of this 9 year old!  We love her so much!!

Our neighbor Carrie brought over this fun racket set today for Lexi.  Thanks to family and friends I hope Lexi felt loved and spoiled.  

Got grammy skiing!

 

Last Wednesday Grammy and I went skiing up Alta.  It was the first time grammy has skied in 2 years.  Two years ago she was hurting so bad with her hip and then that March she got her new hip.  Last year, we were going to go but Grammy had a big trip to Dubai, so she didn't want to get hurt, we were going to go after her trip, but that's when Covid closed the world down. She didn't go to Dubai and ski resorts closed.  

I thought Lu looked so cute going to Soccer one afternoon.  

These pictures came up on my phone and my heart melted.  Why does time have to go so fast?  Did I enjoy this time. I hope so.....

Ski Competition

 Cruz competed twice this past week, on Monday and Tuesday, up at Snowbird and the Freeride Juniors Event.  Shawn took him on Monday and he placed 15th in his age category.  I took him on Tuesday and I loved watching him pick his lines and drops.  He ended up placing 11th on Tuesday.  I love that he loves skiing and he seems so comfortable on his skis.
