Alegra turns 15!!

Alegra's birthday was on Friday but she had left on Thursday morning for her soccer tournament (via bus) in Phoenix.  It was sad to not be with her on her birthday!  Her teammates woke her up with a song and balloons.  She had a game and then she got to pick the place for team dinner, she picked Zuppas!  I ordered some Crumble Cookies to be delivered to the hotel for her team that night.  I picked Alegra up from the bus in Lehi last night (Sunday) at 12:30 a.m. (early Monday morning).  She did go to school today but then came home to open presents.  We all went to dinner at Porcupine's, Alegra's pick.  We all love the cheesy artichoke dip there!  So proud of our 15 year old!

Cruz is feeling a bit under the weather so he didn't want to stand too close to the girls!

Sunday night hoop time

These 3 had an intense game of hoops last night!

Pie activity

Thursday night we had a YW/YM pie making activity. It was really fun!

Alegra's 1st solo DPL weekend

We were at the parking lot in Lehi at 5 a.m. for departure - unfortunately, the buses were an hour late, but they loaded up at 6 a.m. to take off for Phoenix on Thursday November 21st.  Yesterday was Alegra's 15th birthday - Friday, November 22nd.  She played a game at 3 p.m. but unfortunately they lost :(.  She got to pick the place for team dinner, she picked Zappa's and I door dashed some Crumble cookies to the hotel room to share with her team to celebrate her birthday. Kinda hard to have your birthday away from home!  Proud of her though. She is playing a game right now and will have one tomorrow morning before heading home.

DPL Showcase in Tucson, Arizona

On Wednesday night November 13th Alegra and I flew out to Tucson on a 9 p.m. flight.  We got a rental car in Tucson and drove the 1 mile to our hotel.  It was a short night because Alegra had a game at 8:30 a.m. the next morning.  This was her first real game with her new team.  She played a game on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Alegra really likes her new team and I think they seem like nice girls with nice parents, which is always nice!

They won their first tough fought game 3-2 on Wednesday.  We met the team for lunch at In n Out. Afterwards Alegra wanted to go to Target and get her nails done.  We went back to the hotel to rest before finding an Italian place to eat dinner ate. Tucson is kinda a weird town.  The Italian place was not in a great area, but Alegra was happy with her pasta.  We met up with the team for a movie - Red One -which ended up being silly, but I am glad Alegra is making some connections.

Fridays game was tougher. They ended up losing 0-4.  It was an early game, an 8 a.m. start time.  So, after the game we came back to the hotel to rest for a bit.  We grabbed lunch at Chipotle and then met up with some of her teammates to go to the Tucson Temple.  After the Temple we saw that there was a nice mall near the temple.  So Alegra and I went shopping and she found a cute winter dress on sale at Anthropology that we couldn't pass up on.  The team was meeting up for dinner at Buffalo Wild Wing to watch the BYU women's soccer game. Unfortunately when we got there they couldn't pull the game up. There was a big boxing fight on so that was the big hit at the place.  We still ate there and the girls had fun.

Saturday the game was a little later, it started at 11:40. Alegra and I checked out of our room before the game because we were able to change our flight (with no fee) to leave on the Saturday night flight at 5:45 p.m.  We originally booked for Sunday night because we were told there might be games on Sunday. So glad we could go home a day early.  The game this day was so weird. The team just had enough players and I don't even know if they knew each other.  At half Alegra's team was up 6-0.  Bailey, her coach told them they had to do at least 5 passes and could only score a goal with a 1 touch or a header.  They ended up winning 8-0.  After the game Alegra and I went to a Mexican place for lunch that Shawn had recommended and then drove through the the Saguaro National Park. It ended up being way cooler than we expected.  We then drove to the airport to check our car in and get on our flight. It was a good weekend to get Alegra's toes wet with this team.  She could hang with me or choose to do team stuff. Next weekend she travels with the team on a bus back to Phoenix for another tournament.

Cruz

Cruz is in wood turning this trimester.  He has really enjoyed the woods program all throughout his high school career. He made some cool stuff this year.
Cruz came in to help today when I was subbing in extended core kindergarten and 1st grade.  So yesterday the school called to tell me Cruz would need to do 3 service hours at Brighton for jumping the fence after a super exciting finish at the Brighton Football game Friday night. His friend, Thomas, kicked a last second field goal to put Brighton up by 1.  A bunch of kids hopped the fence to storm the field but Cruz was identified in one of the pictures.  So he along with a handful of other kids that were identified need to do service hours. We really need the help in the ECC classrooms so they said he could do 2 of his hours with me. He will have 1 hour at Brighton.  He was so cute with the kids.  A couple of the boys really loved him!!!

service activity

Alegra was able to go with Channing to a service activity on Saturday afternoon. Lexi had a bball game so we missed out.  Single moms that are struggling came to the Sorenson center to give their wish list for their families for Christmas.  People then adopt those families. Alegra and Channing helped compile the lists yesterday.

We are babysitting Murphy this week while Grammy went to LA to see Nick come home from his mission and then go to Rebecca's for a bit.

Murder Mystery Party at the Robinsons

Yesterday was a long day for grammy and I but she survived.  Last night Shawn and I went to a Murder Mystery Dinner party.  Mike and Rachel Robinson held it and Victoria and Jared Miller, Steve and Melissa Schaffer, and Kelli and Jordan Butters.  I was tired but it ended up being such a fun evening.  I was the character Fanny Flycatcher (a nurse) and Shawn was Sir Benjamin Bedrock (an engineer).  The murder took place at the Tower of London.  It was fun and Shawn (Sir Benjamin Bedrock) ended up being the murderer!

Halloween Night

Lexi left around 5 to go with her friends to trick or treat in another neighborhood.  Cruz left in his Shrek donkey outfit at about 7 to go to Andrews house and then to a party in Holladay.  And Alegra and Channing painted their faces to be skeletons and left at 8 to go to a party. No Halloween family picture.  No trick or treating. Shawn and I passed out candy and watched the Thursday night football game, which was kinda a terrible game.  The kids had a fun night and were all safe, so that made me happy!

this is the only picture of got of Halloween night!
