Cake Fiasco

Tomorrow is Cruz's 1st birthday. I can't believe he has been in our life a year. This first year has been truly amazing in every way. Shawn and I decided to have a small party for him tonight. I found a cake on line that I wanted to make. It was a yellow cake in the shape of a doggy. I started making the cakes on Saturday night. I needed to make 2 9 inch round cakes plus some cupcakes. After getting the cakes out of the oven and letting them cool, it was time to take them out of the pan. In trying to flip them out of the pan onto the cooling rack, Shawn dropped one and it tumbled into pieces. We put the cupcakes in the oven and decided to make another cake. In the whole process of fumbling around with the second cake, we burned the cupcakes. Then to top it off, the frosting of the cakes didn't go as smooth as I planned. I went to bed late telling Shawn that I thought he was going to have to go buy a birthday cake in the morning. This morning though, we were able to salvage the cake and the frosting hardened and we were able to work with it to make it into our doggy. It wasn't a masterpiece, but I ended up being pretty happy with how it turned out!!
