Alegra's 1 year appointment
Alegra had a great check up today. Dr. Pete was amazed at how social/flirty she was with him. She weighed 20 lb. 11 oz. (43%), she measures 29.3 In. (53%), and her head is 46.1 cm (77%). Unfortunately she had to have 5 shots at the end of her appointment. She had her second flu shot and 4 other immunizations. She cried but calmed down pretty quickly. That is ALOT of shots for one little girl. She is really starting to "real" crawl all over the place and she loves to crawl up the stairs. She loves to babble and she is generally very happy. Next appointment, 18 months. It is always a relief to have a "good" checkup. We love you Legs!

We've got a crawler!
Alegra has been doing the army crawl for a good 2 months now, but she had never really crawled on her hands and knees. I was starting to think she was going to skip that part and just go to walking, but the last couple of days I would catch her doing the "real" crawl. It was short spurts at first, but she seems to be doing longer stretches.
Happy Thanksgiving
We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. It was the first year that we did Thanksgiving with our little family. We had a very nice Thanksgiving. It was nice to be able to spend quality family time and it was the first time I made Thanksgiving Dinner. I didn't do everything that my mom typically does, mostly because there were only 4 of us and that would have been overkill on food. We had a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, asparagus, olives, and an apple pie to top it off. I was pretty proud of myself and surprisingly it all tasted pretty good. My apple pie didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but oh well. Shawn and I took turns skiing on Saturday and Cruz even got up on the hill a couple times this holiday break. Shawn said he is doing surprisingly good! We played a lot, cleaned the basement out a little, and got some Christmas decorations out. It will be hard to go back to real life. For Shawn, having the time at home with the kids was amazing, and for me, having him around to help was wonderful. We are so grateful for all of our wonderful blessings. We have felt truly blessed this year.

Turkey and more...
I am doing this post so I can remember how to do this little Turkey for next year.
I think this would be fun to do with Cruz and Alegra before Thanksgiving. It is just those Elmer Fudge cookies (1 whole, 1 half), candy corns for feet, hershey kiss for body, chocolate frosting dalup for the head, small red frosting, and white balls for eyes.
I wanted to also document all of Cruz's wonderful Thanksgiving art projects he has done at school. Some of the work is from home but the Pilgrim, the Indian baby in the papus, the teepee, the corn, the Turkey hand, and the Indian are all from school.
Poor little Alegra started pretty feeling pretty crummy by the afternoon of her birthday (luckily we had her party the night before). Last night was rough and she woke up super early. She has a lot of congestion in her chest, double ear infection, and her nose is stuffed up, kind of the pits. Shawn looked around the corner though and saw her sitting in the playroom by herself trying to put these goggles on. She was probably enjoying having the run of the room since Cruz likes to take everything away that she starts playing with. Another thing Alegra has just started doing in the last few days is head up the stairs. We hope she gets better soon! Look at those poor little eyes, you can tell she doesn't feel well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEGRA
We had these adorable 1 year old pictures taken last Friday!
I can't believe my baby girl is one today! Seems almost surreal. She has been a very good baby and has had to put up with a lot of torture from her big brother Cruz. He really loves her he just likes to be rough and he likes to have all the toys, even hers. She likes to laugh and she likes to smile. Some things Alegra is doing:
-standing up to things
-pulling herself up
-army crawling, but will go up to her hand and knees when she wants to sit up
-smiles for the camera
-plays peek a boo and "so big"
-takes a morning and afternoon nap and goes to bed around 7:30 (she is pretty easy to put down, she likes to watch her mobile still)
-likes the bath but still can't go under because of her ears
-goes with the flow
-just switched to whole milk for her bottles
-likes almost every food we give her
-has some constipation problems, but we do try to give her apricots to help
-does have a double ear infection right now but with the tubes it is so much better, it doesn't really hurt her, puss just drains from her ears and I have drops I give her
-she loves to give kisses
-she can say lots of letter sounds
We love you sweet Alegra!

Alegra's birthday celebration!
Playing before her big "1" year old party. Alegra is really loving being able to stand at the kitchen, stand at the lego table, stand at the table the barn is on.....she is really proud of herself and we are proud of her too!
We had a small birthday party for Alegra tonight. Her actual birthday is tomorrow, but we thought we would celebrate it tonight! We had our neighbors Tom and Shelly over, Grammy, and Uncle Russ over (the rest of the Russ' gang is up in Park City with Ali's family for Thanksgiving). It was small but very nice. As you saw from the previous post the boys helped me make butterfly cakes. It is a snowy, wintery day out so I fixed a potato cheese soup in bread bowls and shawn cut up some veggies. Alegra was such a good girl for her birthday. She ate well, she socialized, she smiled for the camera sometimes, she showed how she can do peek-a-boo, patty cake, and so big to everyone, she liked opening gifts (except Cruz did most of the opening), and she really liked her cake. She kept wanting to touch the candle and we tried to teach her to blow but finally we let Cruz blow her candle out. Cruz was very excited to have people over and clamored for some of the attention too!
The birthday set up!
Look at those lovely butterflies. Can you tell which one Cruz decorated and which one Shawn decorated?
Big Girl!
"So Big!"
Opening Gifts. I don't know who was more excited, Alegra or Cruz?
Alegras very own chair. My parents gave Cruz his chair just like that (except denim material) when Cruz turned one. I thought it would be fitting if my mom gave Alegra her's when she turned one as well. Luckily my mom agreed. The funny thing is, just the other day Cruz told Shawn and I that Alegra needed to get her own chair because he was tired of sharing! Good timing I guess!
So Happy!
Yummy!
I love this picture! Right when everyone was about to leave Shawn decided to take a couple of pictures of Alegra and me. When Shawn said, "say cheese", Alegra totally started smiling!

Getting Ready to celebrate
Alegra has started playing at the Lego table. We have had to move the small legos somewhere else, but she really likes the larger ones.
On Saturday we made Alegra's birthday cake. She turns 1 on Monday, I know I say it all the time, but I can't believe she is almost one. Cruz was very excited to make the cake. He helped me pick it out and all week he asked when we could make it. I had enough cake to have him decorate one of the butterflies and dad decorated the other butterfly.

DISNEY ON ICE!
A little cat nap before the show!
Not the best picture of grammy but her and Mia before the show!
We have been looking forward to Disney on Ice for a while now! We realized Ryan/Naomi and gang would be here for the show so we all got tickets together. We left the babies (Alegra and Isla) with a babysitter and Ryan, Naomi, Mia, Sasha, Cruz,Grammy, and I all went to the 4:00 show yesterday. Cruz had a blast. He was starring the whole time and his back didn't ever touch the back of the chair he was too busy watching or trying to doing his light up thing. I asked him what his favorite part was and he said, "the whole was his favorite." So I said, "you liked the whole thing!" and he said, "yes!"
Grammy bought Cruz this twirley thing, he loves it!
The gang watching the show.
Mickey on Ice!
The costumes were very good and they had scenes from Little Mermaid, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan, and Lion King. It was very entertaining.
