Movie at the Movie Theater

Cruz went to his first movie at the movie theater today. We went to see "Tangled". I had so much fun watching him throughout the whole movie. Macy was able to babysit Alegra for me, it was a fun treat!

Frye Family Christmas 2010

Starting to open presents!

Alegra holding on to the Smartcycle bike!

We had a very enjoyable Christmas this year. Because Christmas fell on a Saturday, Shawn got the Friday before off of work. That is really nice. Utah has gotten quite a bit of snow lately so Shawn was able to go up and enjoy some fresh powder Friday morning. The kids and I played, did some last minute grocery shopping, and sang Christmas carols. I love Christmas Eve day, actually, I almost love it more than Christmas, just that feeling in the air, the anticipation I guess, hard to explain. Shawn came home from skiing and then took Cruz back up for some more runs. The boys came home around 4 and we all got dressed up and picked up grammy and Aunt Rebecca and went to Market Street for a yummy fish dinner. I love Market Street, it was decorated so pretty, the food is amazing, and it gave me and my mom a break from cooking, kind of a nice way to do Christmas Eve. After dinner we had some time before the kids needed to go to bed so we drove out to Thanksgiving Point where they have a drive thru light display. It was very pretty and Cruz loved it. You drive very slowly thru the display so we let Cruz sit up front on the center console and he had these 3D glasses. We listened to Christmas music and enjoyed the lights. Cruz actually feel asleep on the way home from lights and Alegra went to bed very easily once we got home.

Santa came to our house and gave the kids presents. Cruz actually slept in until about 7:30. He has been getting up pretty early ever since getting back from Wisconsin, so it was nice he slept in a little. Unfortunately Alegra got up at 5:45 though. She has been dealing with some constipation problems and that woke her up early Christmas morning. It was so fun to see Cruz's expression Christmas morning. He loved everything. Santa left him a semi truck, a log loader, and a smartcycle bike. He also got a turtle he has been wanting in his stocking along with a gummy worm. Grammy Raddon gave him the desired Firestation along with the ambulance and policmen car. He also received a penguin and a penguin story. We gave him a toy snowcat that he was wanting too. He is in heaven with all of these new toys. It has been hard to get him away from the toys. He has been playing so well all by himself with this firestation, it is pretty crazy.

Alegra got a toy cell phone from Santa and a lady bug ride on toy from Grammy. She really likes Cruz's Smartcycle bike, she likes to pull herself up to it, stand by it, and stand there and press the buttons.

The kids were really good and it was so fun to watch them. In the afternoon we went sledding up Big Cottonwood Canyon with our cousins and Uncles. Cruz took a pretty big crash. Uncle Russ was laying on his stomach on the sled and Cruz, Walt, and Nicholas were all hanging on to him going down the hill. Somehow the boys all tumbled off. All I have to say is, thank goodness for helmets. Because of his helmet I don't think he got hurt, but Cruz was crying because he was scared. Later in the day we got dressed and went over to Grammy's house. Rich, Katie& Co. drove in from California and the Utah Raddons came over too. It was a big group and kind of crazy, but fun! Actually Katie's parents and brother were over visiting and we had plenty of food so they ended up staying for dinner as well. 19 altogether, way to go mom! Actually, she did let me and Ali help by bringing a salad. I brought her famous Cranberry marshmallow salad. I wish we could celebrate Christmas for another week together!

The coveted firestation!

13 months

Alegra is 13 months today. She is getting to be such a big girl. She got her 6th tooth in the last week or so. It is the little tooth on the top next to the top middle teeth (to the left of them). She is kind of attached to mommy right now but once she warms up to someone she is pretty happy with them. Alegra also really loves her daddy and whenever she sees him she gets so excited. She likes to giggle and she loves attention. On the way home on the airplane she was trying to get everyones attention on the plane by smiling and giggling and once she got someones attention she just kept going. It was so cute. She loves her brother Cruz but she doesn't like Santa (confirmed today as the kids sat on Santa's lap at the mall and she screamed the whole time). She likes to eat but sometimes spits out food that I thought she liked, it depends on the time and day with her whether she is going to like something or not. I have to be careful with her diet and make sure she gets plenty of apricots or prunes to keep her moving. She crawls all over the place and she pulls herself up to things all the time. No steps yet. She likes her pacy and she is still a really good sleeper on the 2 nap schedule. We love her so much.

We met Grammy, Aunt Ali, Georgia, Macy, Grant, and Walt at the mall today for lunch, a carousel ride, and then the kids and I stayed a little longer to talk to Santa. Cruz already go to talk to Santa once last week when Santa surprised us at Grandpa and Grandma Frye's home but Cruz wanted to ask Santa where Rudolph was.....so we waited in the line. When it came time for our turn the kids sat on Santas lap for a picture and Alegra started screaming. I was so busy trying to get her calmed down that I really wasn't listening to Cruz. Cruz told Santa what he wanted, a log loader, Marc's (his friend) snowcat, and Burke's (his friend) firestation with a firetruck, ambulance, and policeman. By the way, Cruz hasn't changed his request since we started asking him about 2 months ago. I thought that was pretty impressive for a 3 year old. When he was done telling Santa his requests we moved on and picked up our pictures and then he said, "oops I forgot to ask Santa about Rudolph!" Luckily he was in a good mood and didn't throw a fit. I wasn't about to wait in that line again. The picture is pretty classic of the kids but they wouldn't let me take one with my own camera. I will see if I can scan it.

December Trip to Wisconsin

Alegra and her cousin Caden getting in trouble playing with the Christmas ribbon :)

We just got back home after spending a week in Wisconsin with Shawn's family. We decided to go because Shawn's grandfather (we taught Cruz to call him G squared) was turning 80 and the family was having a surprise 80th birthday party for him. Plus, we could celebrate an early Christmas with Grandpa Frye, Grandma Frye, Aunt Leigh, Uncle Brian, Nicholas, Max, and Caden. We had a very nice time even though it was a little chilly! :) Cruz had time to play with his cousins and Max and him really bonded. There was time to bake cookies, play puzzles, celebrate Christmas, play, spend family time, etc. We arrived last Tuesday and hung out with Grandpa and Grandma Frye, Max, and Caden. Nicholas played with us after he came home from school. On Wednesday Shawn and I had a little time to ourselves and we drove to Chicago and shopped on Michigan Avenue. It was so good to be back home for a bit! That evening we all went to this place called Monkey Joes. They have these huge blow up bounce things and the boys just ran around like crazy going from one bouncy thing to another. Alegra even had fun in the bounce houses. On Thursday we played and baked some more. We were able to have dinner with Grandpa Bert and Sharon and then we headed over to Max's preschool Christmas program. On Friday Santa happen to drop by the Frye household and the boys were very excited. We had a very nice dinner and opened presents that we exchanged with each other. It was fun to see the boys and Alegra's reactions to Santa. On Saturday we went to a Steiff Exhibit they have downtown. Cruz enjoyed seeing all of the animals. And on Sunday, it was Bert's surprise party. Bert really doesn't like birthday celebrations, but he took it o.k.! :) We flew home on Monday and just as we were landing in SLC Cruz got the stomach flu. I guess if he had to get it that was the best time of any on our travel day. I ended up getting it later that night, but at least we were home safe and sound. It was fun to be in Wisconsin and spend time with grandparents, aunt, and uncle, and cousins.

Alegra and Santa. She really didn't like him very much. She was not in a great mood when Santa showed up at the Frye's so I am wondering if she happen to be in a better mood if she would have liked him better from the get go.

Zoo Lights 2010

Hogle Zoo has Zoo lights every year. We love to go. Shawn rode his road bike into work yesterday morning (it isn't too cold here right now) and we picked him up after work. We grabbed a quick bit to eat at Cancun Cafe and then headed to the Zoo lights. The kids both loved it.

Cruz loved this gingerbread house the best.

Christmas Decorations 2010

Our tree at night! We tried it in the front room this year instead of the family room, I like it!
