Good Bye Sandy

Sandy Teeples, one of my moms best friends, passed away this evening.  Sandy is the one standing closest to my mom.  She was such a nice person.  Her husband Ron passed away 3 months after dad passed away.  Sandy lived in California, but mom and her have always been close.  She is 1 of the 5 friends that mom grew up with in Idaho. There is mom, Elaine, Sue Rampton, Sandy (Teeney), and Sandra Jo.  There was also Trudy but she got married young and didn't go to BYU and BYU Hawaii with the rest.  These ladies have stayed close even though they all didn't live close to each other.  Mom and Sandy started traveling together. It was nice for both of them because they knew each other pretty well, they liked each other, and there husbands had both passed.  About a year and a half ago Sandy got diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  She had the very intensive surgery done, called the WHIP, I believe.  She was doing pretty good after taking a bit to recover from the surgery. This picture was taken in May when she came out to help decorate for Rebecca's wedding.  She looked great, seemed great, and was as cute as ever.  The week after this picture though, she had gone to the doctor and her numbers were up, meaning there was cancer somewhere.  She opted with the encouragement of her 2 kids to get some different Chemo done.   She had been doing that since this summer. I know she came out this summer to Park City with her family and had pictures taken at that time of her family and a few of the friends (Kate Turley took the pictures).  I am sad she had to suffer.  Near the end it got pretty bad. It was about a week ago she decided along with the doctors to stop the chemo.  Her mouth was full of soars and her stomach was full of cancer growths.  Sue called me tonight to tell me.  Luckily Sue and Sandra Jo had flown out yesterday to be with her.  Mom is, at the moment on a flight from Santiago Chile to New York. She arrives home tomorrow at 4. She doesn't know yet.  Sandy and Mom both knew there was a possibility that she might pass away while mom was on her trip to Antarctica, but Sandy wanted mom to go. They said their goodbyes but Sandy was wanting to hold on till mom got there.  I am sad for mom. I am sad to tell her, I am sad for the sadness she will feel.  I am sad that mom and her friends are having to start this stage, but it just seems like they are all still young.  We really liked Sandy. She played with the kids and she found joy in our kids.  We would always spend time with her when she would come to visit.  She will be missed. Now, she is out of pain and with her hubby.

Bed in a Box

Tyler and Matt Kartchner had made beds in boxes yesterday and Alegra came home last night and really wanted to make one. Today she was determined to find a box.  Luckily she found a box in Lexi's closet full of diapers. I let her take out the diapers and use the box.  She turned the box into a bed and put blankets and a pillow.  Lexi had fun joining her.  Tonight before bed, Lexi got in the box/bed all by herself.  Cruzy then joined her!! :) The joy boxes bring!!!!

Grammy Night!!!

Ryan was nominated for 2 Grammy's this year. One for best dance song and one nomination for best dance album.  It was fun seeing Ryan and Naomi on the Red Carpet on the E channel before the Grammy's started. Bummer he didn't win, but so proud of him!!!

The E Channel's police for fashion commented on Ryan's attire in the Glam Cam 360. They really liked what he was wearing and it was cool he got some attention!!

Boys will be boys....or will they?

Carter is over playing today and they were outside riding their scooters. I just looked out a few minutes ago and started laughing. They were cruising around the circle in the girls pink razor, it just looked so funny to me. Love these 2!

Alegra and Esme...love to dress up

Alegra and Esme love to dress up and dance around to music, it is pretty cute!

Playdo, boat, and exercise fun!

I love that kids love to play play do at any age!  With my new large computer too, it has been fun seeing old pictures pop up as screen savers.  Alegra saw this boat that she played in as a baby and insisted I find it so she could play with it again!

Fun Martin Luther King Day!!!

The kids and I were not really sure what we were going to do on this day off for Martin Luther King. Dad had to work so we were kind of undecided.  Carter's family ended up calling and inviting Cruz up to their cabin across from Brighton Ski Resort.   We got all loaded up and headed up the canyon. It was such a beautiful day.  The Kehl's cabin was amazing.  The girls and I stayed for a bit and chatted and sledded.  The kids in all the cabins were sledding just along the roads you drive on up there. The road right by the Kehls was the perfect pitch.  Fun but not too fast!!  We left to take Lexi home for her nap and Cruz stayed up there with them.  Kelley ended up taking Carter and Cruz skiing later in the afternoon.  Cruz had a great day.  After Lexi's nap, the girls and I decided to run to the mall to return a ski jacket I had bought for Cruz.  Cruz has grown out of his Patagonia and I found a Columbia Ski Jacket at Dillards for a good price.  I had bought 2 sizes because I wasn't sure which one would fit, we ended up keeping the bigger one so hopefully it will fit next season too.  Anyway, I needed to return the other jacket.  I let the girls ride the train afterwards around the mall.  Dad brought home Cous Cous for dinner and we had a mellow evening.  Cruz didn't get home until about 7:45 and he was pretty beat!  Kelley sent me the pictures of the boys skiing, so fun!

 The Kehl's Cabin!
Lexi on the train, she loved it!
 Alegra on the train!
 The girls!
Cruz has the ski poles and Carter is in the grey jacket!

SKI AND ROCK CLIMB SATURDAY

Shawn took Cruz up to Snowbird and went with Ryan, Naomi, and Mia.  It was nice and sunny today! They said they had a great time.  Lexi, Alegra, and I stayed home to let Lexi nap.  We cleaned the house and played outside.  When the gang got home we took Cruz to Dempsey's birthday party and Shawn took Mia and Alegra to Momentum. a rock climbing gym. Lexi and I ran a few errands.  We went to watch them climb before we picked up Cruz from the party.  We ended up meeting Matt, Wendy, and Dawson, totally last minute at Paradise Bakery right by the Bowling alley.  They were down close to that area for the car show so it worked out nice.  The kids were pretty wiped out by the time it came to dinner.

Ryan's show last night

Ryan played in Park City last night during the Sundance Film Festival. Ryan, Naomi, and Mia all flew in yesterday afternoon.  Mia stayed with Cruz, Alegra, and Lexi at our home and Elle came over to babysit.   Elle is a great babysitter!!  It was fun to go to the show last night, late, but fun!  Russ and Ali went and Ryans friends Chris, Steve, and Naomi's friend Matona.  We all drove up together and pilled into one car near the club so we could park with Ryan and walk in the back doors with him (avoiding the hassle of waiting outside, etc).

Today Shawn and Cruz went skiing with Mia, Ryan, and Naomi.  Ryan scored a film that is showing in the Sundance Film Festival tonight so we are going to watch Mia tonight when they go to the show and do Q and A.

Minnie Mouse

Lexi is really into Minnie Mouse lately.  I have been trying to pick up random Minnie Mouse shirts on sale when I am shopping because that is all the wants to wear.  We even wore a pair of Minnie Mouse jambes all day this past week because she "needed" Minnie on!

Polaris Time and Face Plant

It has been really warm this week at our home.  It is kind of bad because we NEED snow and plus we WANT snow so skiing is better, but with it so warm out, the kids are more tempted to play outside. Esme and Stacy came over to hang out Tuesday afternoon. The girls had fun playing on the polaris.  Unfortunately, Lexi was sitting in the small back portion of the the ride and she feel out and really hit her face hard!! Her poor face.
 The 3 girls!
 Es and Alegra just cruising!
 Lexi post fall!
See the oweee on her cheek!
