Update on Kids

Cruz: Right now Cruz is playing flag football on Mondays and Wednesday in the evening with practices on Thursday evenings.  He is taking piano (he started this summer) on Thursdays after school.  He is responsible for doing Reflex Math every day when he gets home from school.  Practice piano in the morning before school, but lately he has been sleeping in, so that has been tough.  He is reading SuperFudge out loud to Shawn and I before bed (he is supposed to read 20 minutes a day).  He also has a weekly spelling and vocabulary test that he has to study for, for the test in school on Friday.  The other homework he has is one math worksheet for the week and one reading comprehension sheet.  Cruz also goes to Scouts on Wednesdays after school for an hour.  It is nice because he just walks to the church from school where they hold scouts!  I just finished reading Cruz the book Wonder.  It was awesome. I loved doing that with him.  Cruz loves to have screen time.  He is really into Wizard 101 on the computer right now.

Alegra:  Alegra is liking Kindergarten.  She says she wishes she could go all day.  She does come home with lots of energy and wanting to do something or play with someone.  She just started singing lessons with a private teacher last Monday. We will see how long that goes :).  She also she stared a little dance, jazz, tumbling class on Tuesdays after school with a few girls in her kindergarten class.  On Wednesdays a few moms and I started a Kindergarten lunch bunch group.  There are 4 girls total and the moms take a turn each week to pick up the girls from school and then have them stay at their home until 3.  It was our turn yesterday.  After playgroup Alegra has gymnastics at Olympus on Wednesdays at 4.  Alegra REALLY likes playing with friends right now.  She also taught herself how to tie her shoes (so she has 2 pair of tie shoes for school) and she has taught herself how to do a braid.  I still have to do a braid in her hair.  Her hair is a HUGE issue. She is very particular about how her hair is fixed in the morning and it has to be exactly how she describes otherwise she totally freaks out.  We are working on this!!! She comes up with lots of different hairstyles, usually with some sort of twist or braid brought to one of the sides of her head with either a pony or bun.  Alegra wants to watch all these teeny bob shows on Netflix now and they drive me crazy. I have told her no more because I think that is why she has gotten more sassy.

Lexi:  Lexi is LOVING preschool.  She goes to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-11:30.  She has no attachment issues to me when I drop her off, which I am happy about.  She goes to dance, jazz, tumbling on Tuesdays at the same place Alegra goes to, but she is in the 3 year old class.  On Wednesday she is also in gymnastics at Olympus at 4, but in a different class. It has been nice that the girls classes have lined up nicely this year.  Lexi has learned from her sister to be very stubborn about her hair as well, which is totally annoying!  She is also VERY opinionated about what she wears.  I wish I had more of a choice.  She is really into the stuffed animal giraffe and a stuffed animal penguin that she calls "Bronco".  They are her babies and she is enjoying feeding them, putting them to bed, etc.  Lexi still REALLY loves pooh.  She has asked me to order a Winnie the Pooh costume for Halloween.  She saw a back pack about a month ago with Winnie the Pooh on it and she had to have it!!  Lexi is great at playing with herself or pretend playing.
