Thanksgiving and St. George

We had a different Thanksgiving this year.  Lexi's team entered a soccer competition that started on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  We committed to playing a few months ago, so I knew our Thanksgiving would be different. My mom was going to go to St. George with us so we decided to do something really simple - go out to eat.  I was late in calling places and the only place I could find that still had a reservation left was up at the Atrium at Snowbird.  Our reservation was at 1:15 and that was perfect so we could hit the road after.  A week before Thanksgiving my mom realized that Walker was having his baptism the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so she decided to stay home.  She still went with us up to Snowbird to eat and it really was lovely. I am not a big "eat out" person for holidays, but this was really nice!!!  The food was good, the setting was beautiful, and I loved my company.   After our Thanksgiving meal, we paced the car up and headed to St. George.  We checked into the Tru hotel around 7 that evening.  The room was a bit small, but we brought our own cot and made it work.  Lexi had 2 games on Friday.  The first game was at 11:15 and they held their own. Her team ended up losing 0-2 but they had chances to score and it wasn't a blow out at all.  Her game at 4:15 was much tougher.  The team was REALLY good.  They lost 1-5, but they pretty much played defense the entire game.  Lexi got taken down really hard and was down on the ground for a bit, but I have to hand it to her, she is so tough and was able to go back in and play.  Their last game was at 10:15 Saturday morning.  I was so proud of their team, they came out fighting and didn't let down the entire game.  They ended up losing 0-2.  The girls looked good and played hard though!

We had a fun time being together in St. George. We ate out, enjoyed the sun, went on a walk, and Shawn and I did a little bike ride together.  We watched a movie, cheered Lexi on, and spent time as a family!  So grateful for this family of mine!!!!

Pictures loaded backwards -so here we go. Kids loved playing pool that was in the lobby of our hotel.
Fun walk along the Virgin River Saturday afternoon.

Moms cheering on their girls at the game!
Hot tub and polar plunge challenges at the hotel pool!
Practicing modeling at lunch!

So proud of our tough Lexi!
Between games Lexi chowed down on Cafe Rio!

Lexi and her baby Olive. It was fun to have Olive with us.  The hotel we stayed out allowed dogs, that's part of the reason we stayed there.

Our Thankgiving Meal at Snowbird before we headed down to St. George

Trans Siberian orchestra

A few weeks ago Ann (Katie's sister) asked me if me and my mom wanted to go to a Christmas concert the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Ann has been looking for stuff to do with her mom. I talked to my mom about it and we both decided it would be fun.  Well, the concert was not what we expected. It was basically heavy metal people putting their take on Christmas songs.  We started laughing about the whole thing though and it really was quite comical, some parts were good, but it was not what I would say was my favorite.  Chalk it up to experience!! :) Plus it was fun to be with my mom, Ann, and her mom, and Katie and Clara ended up coming into town because Nick's team lost their football game.

Alegra's 12 year old well check

Alegra had her 12 year old well check yesterday.  We had no school so I thought it was perfect timing. I forgot that she didn't have a well check last year so she had to get 3 shots for middle school.  That wasn't fun but it was fun to see how Alegra is progressing and to talk to Mary Faith, the nurse practitioner about the stomach aches she has been having and the knee pain she has been having.  Alegra's height is 58.3 inches which is 34% and her weight is 76 pounds, which is 17% for her age, her body mass index is 15.8 or 16% for her age.

Sunday Dinner with my Cousins Family

My cousin Nicole, her husband Mike, and son Logan were in town last night. We were able to have Sunday dinner together with a bunch of the crew.  They are on their way to spend Thanksgiving with their daughter Hailey, who is in college in Oregon. It was nice to be able to spend some time together.

Lexi's finger

It has been 5 weeks since Lexi broke her finger and we had to get it looked at in Wisconsin.  She has still been complaining it hurt so I finally made an appointment here in Utah up at the U.  I was so glad I took her. Her finer isn't healing totally correct and they were able to walk us next door and have this cool clinic make her a much better cast. She needs to wear it all the time the next 3 weeks and hopefully her finger will be better by then. I was so impressed with this place.

Thanksgiving Decor

I liked how I/we decorated this year for Thanksgiving so I wanted to document:

Alegra turns 12!!

My baby girl is 12 years old today.  We have been celebrating her since Friday morning.

Last Friday morning Alegra invited 4 of her friends over for a small birthday breakfast.  We took the girls to The Pancake House for breakfast and then a treat at the gas station before taking them to school.  They have late start so it was easier to do it on the Friday morning.

Lexi, Shawn, and I sat in the booth next to them.

Alegra's sweet friend Emalee gave her this cute pink cozy, now she matches Cruz!!

Sunday night we went to grammy's for Sunday dinner.  My cousin Nicole and her husband Mike and son Logan were in town visiting and some of Russ's family was over.  We were able to sing to Alegra and have apple crisp and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies- al her requests!
MONDAY - Her actual birthday. German pancakes for Breakfast!!!
I brought her Wendy's for lunch and then she took the bus to Granite after school (where I was subbing) and we picked up a Starbucks drink for a snack.  Tonight was GL soccer training with Swig cookies for her teammates and then home to Homemade insta pot mac n cheese, carrots, and brown bread.  Chocolate cake and singing for dessert. I'd say a pretty good birthday!

Some gifts: a North Face sweatshirt from Grandma Frye, Doc Marten boots from Grammy, athlete pants, a hydro flask, perfume, and a necklace from mom and dad.  We love this 12 year old!!!!

BYU Basketball game

We had a fun night at the BYU basketball game last night.  Lexi really wanted to come too but she ended up having a last minute game out in Herriman.  Fun to be back in the stadium!
