On Wednesday morning after I got the kids off to school. I biked up to the Quarry trail to meet my friends Brinda and Micki. Micki biked there from her house but Brinda drove to the trailhead. We had a fun ride up and stayed at the top and chatted for a bit. We had just started our decent and their was this smooth gravelly downhill section that I was going pretty fast on. A very large bee somehow flew and got stuck under the bridge of my noes under my sunglasses. I remember thinking I needed to slow down and break but then it started stinging me. I think I went to swat it away and next thing I know I am rolling around on the ground in SOOOO much pain. I had knocked the air of me and I was so confused. I kept saying "I am not ok". Brinda was in front of me but Micki was a bit behind me and she came up to me. She was able to help me and call Brinda. Brinda came peddling back and luckily she had some fruit snacks because I was starting to get nauseous and i needed to get my blood sugar back up. Brinda went down on her bike and luckily (lots of mini miracles in this story) I fell not to far from a place I could walk out onto the road. After sitting there for a while with Micki I finally got to a place I thought I could walk my bike up to the road. I was soooooo dizzy though. If I moved eye direction it was crazy. My friends got me loaded in Brenda's truck and she drove me home. Micki's husband does eye plastic surgery and she called him. He happen to have a break in his clients around 1:00. I went home and tried to shower off a bit and rested until Micki came back to pick me up to take me to her husband's office. He put 2 stitches in my chin and 5 in the top of my left hand. Then Micki took me home. I called my dentist, Curtis Smith, and he was able to get me in at 4:30. My jaw really hurt and I thought I might have dislocated it. My mom was able to take me to Dr. Smith's. I was getting better with the dizziness but I still felt super out of it. Shawn was in San Francisco so my friends and mom were my miracles this day. Luckily Dr. Smith didn't see any fractures, the ligament is just super swollen and it could take up to 8 weeks eating soft foods and being careful with my jaw before it feels normal. He told me to have someone wake me up every 2 hours that night. I had Cruz sleep in my bed and I set my alarms but little sleep came for me as I hurt everywhere and had so much road rash it was hard to get comfortable. I did make it through the night without throwing up and so I probably had a mild concussion but not too bad. Really I could have been hurt so much worse...it is a miracle.
When Mat sewed up this left hand (there was a hole) he said there was fat coming out. This hand has gotten super swollen since the stitches but I do think it will go down.
