Brighton High School Soccer Tryouts

This week Alegra has had 2 a days.  Morning and evening sessions for the Brighton High School Soccer Team.

Sometimes I have dropped her off with just freshman for testing (usually in the morning, but last night it was all grade scrimmage so she went with her friends Grace and Anna)
Lexi has a basketball camp at the high school the same time as Alegra's tryout time.  I picked them up to gather and we went to get smoothies and donuts!

A couple days in Idaho

We got away mid week to have a few days in Idaho.  Shawn, grammy, Lexi, Alegra, and I took off on Wednesday after the girls had practices at about noon.  We stopped at Maddox for a late lunch and were able to get up to Swan Valley and get the boat out on the water for an hour.  On Thursday, Cruz and 5 friends headed up to Idaho.  We spent the morning trying to track down the right battery for the ATV, we finally found one in Thayne.  After we purchased the battery, we put the boat on the water. We had about an hour before the boys joined us.  That night we made a spaghetti dinner and hung out.  On Friday, we spent most of the day on the water.  Friday night we had frozen pizza, played LRC, and hung out.  Pickleball and spike ball were favorites this week.  Saturday morning the girls got organized cleaned up the cabin and took off.  The boys and Shawn hung around and went shooting before heading home.  Alegra had a pool party with her new La Roca team that we thought was important to get back to and all the other kids wanted to go to Butlerville Days on Saturday night.  It was such a fun getaway!

Las Vegas for Lexi's Basketball Tournament

Shawn left on a flight on Wednesday morning for Vegas to do a little work at the HDR office in Vegas.  Lexi and I went to the temple with the youth at noon and then hit the road for Vegas.  We listened to the Book "Wolf Hollow" on the way down.  We pulled up to the hotel at 6 p.m. and just caught Shawn returning from the office.  We walked to a yummy Italian place that night.  We slept at the the hotel Shawn stayed at for work and then on Friday morning we switched to Home2Suites by the convention center.  Lexi's first game was at 12:45. They lost unfortunately.  Then the next game was at 4:30 p.m.  They lost that game too.  Both teams were pretty tough.  Lexi got to play and she was doing some great things.  When we left the convention center, Shawn got a call from Stephanie Horning.  She was at the basketball tournament with Walker (who was playing) and her 2 girls.  She had got rear ended in her mini van and the car raced away.  Shawn ran to where she told him she was and he ended up trying to help her the rest of the night.  She had to get her car towed and wait for the police.  It was a frustrating night, everything took so long and it was 110 degrees out.  We ended up eating dinner at a pizza place at about 9:30 p.m.

Saturday's game was at 11:30.  If they won they got to play at 3:00. It was a tough fought game and the girls were able to pull off a win.  They faced the team they played in the 2nd game yesterday.  Unfortunately, some of Lexi's players got hurt in the game before and it made it challenging to get in sink!  They lost the second game of the day on Saturday.  After the game we went to the Outlet Mall to check out LuLuLemon.  Then we went to a really yummy Taco restaurant in the area.  We came home and swam for a bit and then watch a movie on the tv.  Sunday they played for 3rd or 4th place at 11:30.  They lost because they were down so many players.  This was a good experience for Lexi.  There are some tough teams and players out there but I know Lexi is willing to put the time and work in to get better.

We left right after the game.  We picked up Steph and the girls.  Walker got a ride back with a teammate (which made the ride a little more comfortable in our car).  Fran met us at 106th South to pick them up.

It was fun driving around Vegas seeing Ryan :)
We drove the strip on Friday morning.
Our hotel was super convenient to the convention center and then we got to ride on the "Vegas Loop" to get to us a little closer to the basketball convention area

The Hornings minivan!
Playing cards in the hotel room to pass the time
Lots of Basketball!

Fun Taco place on Saturday night!

Shawn and I would get up early each morning to walk before it got too hot. It was nice to get some miles with him.

Scary night

Rebecca and her kids had a very scary and miraculous evening last night.  Rebecca was at a country club pool with her friend Wendy and her kids.  It was right before Rebecca was leaving and Wendy and Rebecca were arguing over who was going to pay the food bill for the afternoon at the pool.  Heath (2) picked up a swim board and went into the water without Rebecca seeing him.  He was 2 feet in front of the lifeguard.  The lifeguard saw him go into the pool but then looked away.  A patron at the pool ran and grabbed Heath out of the water. He was floating on his back but his head was under.  His lips were blue but when they pulled him out he immediately started coughing and crying.  On the way home Rebecca called her pediatrician after hours number. They told her to call an ambulance.  Since she was in the car she decided to just take him to an insta care.  When I tried to find her the nearest one to Parleys Canyon, I called and they told me she needed to take Heath immediately to the ER.  So, she went to St. Marks. I met her there and took the other 3 kids back to my house for food and to play before taking them to Grammy's to put them to bed.  What they worry about is called Secondary Drowning, which I guess is common.  Rebecca and Heath were at St. Marks till about 9:00 p.m.  They ran a bunch of tests and did a chest Xray to make sure his chest was clear of water.  Heath was happy and chasing the kids when I went into the waiting room and luckily everything checked out he was o.k.  A MAJOR MIRACLE!!!

11 years ago today.....

This picture came up on my phone.....so crazy, this was 11 years ago today.  Time is a crazy thing.  I love that the kids are growing, learning, and developing who they are but I miss these days when they were little.  My mom looks so young here too.  The last 2 years have been tough ones on her with Russ's divorce and all.
