Lesson and Birthday Bash

This is the cake Shawn and I made for Cruz. I had seen a picture of a cake that looks like this online and we replicated it. It was really fun to make and Shawn helped cut out the pieces of the cake to make it look like a real digger, with a smoke stack and all. The only glitch we ran into is that I didn't have one attachment piece for the black icing, so at 8:30 last night I had to run out to the craft store!
These are the little giveaways we made for the kids!
This is the kitchen table set for the party, we also set up the dinning room table too!

Today I taught in Relief Society, and I taught about motherhood. It was nice to take some time this week to reflect on my role as a mother and how much I love my little gems. Motherhood is more challenging, complex, and brings more joy than I ever could have imagined. I am so grateful to have the opportunity and the ability to be a mother.

This afternoon we had a little party for Cruz. We were planning to have it outside, not that far of a stretch for May 2nd, but that idea was shot out the window when we woke up to more snow today! We grilled burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and veggie burgers. Had yummy fruit and veggies and chips too! And who could forget, birthday cake and ice cream.

Grammy, Rebecca, Russ & Ali & Co., Fran, Steph, Wyatt, Walker, and our neighbor Danielle and Jaden came over to help us celebrate. The kids had a blast playing (they even played outside even though it was VERY cold). Cruz got some very cool gifts and he even has a few to open on Wednesday, his actual birthday. Thanks for helping us celebrate everyone!

Cruz opening up his gifts. I think he was so worried about having the other kids open "his" presents that he would just open one and move to the next, without hardly looking at the present!
Presents!
This cool ride on digger was from Grammy. I hope he likes this, I found it online and thought he would like it!
Blowing out the candles! Cruz did such a good job of blowing out the candles that he spit on about half of the cake!
