Today was Cruz's Monster Party at school. A parent was invited to attend with their child and we went to school for over an hour. The kids performed a cute monster song and then Miss Shirley, the teacher, had different stations set up that we would rotate to. At one station Cruz made a monster face. At one station they counted words in a sentence and would put teeth down on a monster for how many words the teacher would say. At another station they worked on rhyming words and at the last station they worked on letters and feeding monsters. At the end the kids displayed their monster masks they made. It was very cute and I was very impressed with how in-line the teacher had all the children. Cruz had a rough start to school but he seems to be enjoying it now. I think the structure was hard for him, but I think it is the best thing for him to learn. I was so proud of him and it was fun to get to spend the morning with him. Other siblings were not invited so luckily Alegra and Grammy had some time to play together!
The kids put their jacket and bags away and sit on the floor and look at books quietly until school starts.
