Cruz was so sick last week. It actually started the week before when he called a few times from school saying he wasn't feeling well. One day I picked him up and he seemed pretty normal except for the fact he had a stuffy nose. I ended up taking him back to school that day. Last Monday, I had a message on my phone from Granite Elementary from the secretary telling me Cruz was not feeling well and he didn't think he should go to golf, there was only 10 minutes of school left. I was out running errands and I quickly ran home. Cruz had taken the bus home. He was burning home and really looked pretty miserable. Unfortunately, that night we had parent teacher conference, so we had him go with us. His teacher said some really nice things about Cruz. He is on a bit above grade level on reading and right on grade level for math, according to the standardized tests. She said he is really helpful and nice to the special needs kids and to all the kids in the class. I seriously teared up. It is nice to hear good things about your kid. We usually take him out on PTC nights but he looked and seemed terrible. Monday night he was up a lot. He had a congestion, sore throat, coughing, and fever. On Tuesday it just seemed like he was getting worse. By Tuesday night his face started getting a little rash on it. I didn't know if it was having a high fever for a while or what. He was up during the night again and on Wednesday when I checked on him he had a rash broker out all over the front and back of his body. He got major diarrhea and was nauseous and threw up. It was a combination of so many things. I had called the doctor the day before and they thought it was just the flu according to the symptoms I described. I called back on Wednesday with some major concern over the rash and the vomiting. She said they had an opening an hour from my call and I took it. The poor kid had strep. He basically had what they called in the olden days, Scarlet Fever. I personally also think he had the "The FLU (the cold kind)" too. We started antibiotics immediately. He slept a lot and rested a lot. Cruz really didn't start feeling better until Friday night. And he was still very worn down on Saturday and Sunday. He is a trooper though. He carried around his bucket, his tissue box, his bag to put used tissues, and a water bottle when he would move from the couch to his bed and back and forth.
Waiting at the doctors office!
