We had a wonderful time at the cabin this week. Shawn worked a full day and then the plan was to pick him up from work on Tuesday evening. Tuesday was going great for us, the kids were playing, etc. We decided to go down to Walmart and buy a few snacks before we left. My sister-in-law Allison called me while we were at Walmart and says, "have you looked outside?" I said, "no". She said, "there is a huge fire and it looks kind of close to your house." We rushed from the store and headed home. With the mountains it is very hard to tell exactly where a fire is. It actually looked closer to my moms home as we were driving. I called Shawn in a panic to have him look up information on the fire. He quickly called me back and said it was in Alpine, which is kind of far, but if the fire jumped over the mountain range, it could have been pretty close to us. So I decided to go to Grammy's house and pull a few valuables. Naomi and mom had left that morning for Idaho so she wasn't around. Just as I was pulling into Grammy's house, Ali and the kids were pulling in to. It was nice to have their help to pull some of the photo books, etc. from the shelves. By this time it was about 4:30 (time I was going to leave to pick up Shawn). After leaving grammy's I went to our house and put our photo books, etc. in a large tupperware and took them down to Ali's house. They are just far enough down the road that I thought our stuff would be safe there. This time I was totally sweating and in panic mode. I finished packing up the truck and finally headed to pick up Shawn. Cruz started complaining about his ear when we were at Grammy's house loading Ali's car with all her valuables but I really didn't think too much about it. By the time we were back in the car heading toward Shawn's work Cruz was screaming at the top of his lungs about his ear. I knew there was no way we could drive for 4 hours like that. I saw an insta-care and pulled over. It wasn't the insta-care we usually go to and I was kicking ourselves I just didn't drive back to that insta-care. This place was slow as molasses. After about an hour the doctor finally saw us. Cruz did have an ear infection and the doctor prescribed antibiotics. The doctor called it in to a Walgreens near Shawn's work. We went and got the medicine and picked up some hamburgers since it was now 7:30 p.m. We finally made it to Shawn's work at 8:00 and hit the road at about 8:15 p.m. It was slightly crazy, but we finally got on the road. Poor Shawn rode his bike to work at about 5:00 a.m. that morning, so he worked about a 15 hour day by the time we got to him. We made it to Swan Valley by about midnight. It was a fairly easy drive for us though, the kids basically slept.Alegra helping my pack!
The next morning was 4th of July. We all packed up and headed 20 minutes over to Victor. It has become our family tradition. We watch the parade in Victor and then go to the little fair they have in the center of town. The fair is basically food and booths that sell things. The kids had a blast at the parade collecting candy.

That afternoon lots of the kids went on the boat. Our kiddos stayed home and slept. Cruz wasn't 100% so it was good to have some downtime. That night we lite some sparklers. The fire danger is extremely high out west so we only felt comfortable doing a few sparklers.

The next day, July 5th, was kind of rainy. We decided to head over to Jackson Hole to do the Alpine Slide and hang out. It was also Naomi's birthday!

We had nice days on Friday and Saturday. We all went to the lake on Friday and had lunch on the boat. It was fun to be all together. On Saturday Naomi and I took Cruz, Lexi, Sasha, and Isla to Heise Hot Springs while the rest of the group went on the boat. The kids had fun playing together the whole week. Cruz and Grant got into catching water snakes. On Friday though, Cruz was being really rough with one and it actually bit him. Luckily it has healed well. There were lots of ATV and Red rides to visit Boo and Ida the neighborhood horses, time in the hot tub, playing legos together, and time on Raddon Park. All in all it was a lot of fun.
