So, I was fearful of this when Alegra was diagnosed with Krup and had a cold. She started sticking her finger in her ear about 5:00 p.m. yesterday. I asked her probably 20 times if her ear hurt (knowing it was daylight and I had time to take her to a doctor or to call our friend Kathy). She said every time, "no", she just had an itch. Well, about 9:00 p.m she told me it started hurting. By 10 p.m. she was a mess. Screaming, crying, in total pain. I put her in the car (after texting our friend Kathy to see if she was awake, with no reply) and took her down to instacare. I thought instacare was open all night, to sadly find out they are all only open until 9:00 p.m. I knew I just needed to get her on antibiotics. So, we had to make it thru the night. I felt so bad for her. She just was in so much pain and could not get comfortable. Shawn went in her room and tried to sleep. I shut the door to our room but she still screamed and cried. I turned on the Sprout channel and she would doze in and out of sleep but then be super uncomfortable. She had to be laying on me constantly too, so I finally got comfortable with her on me. We were able to give her more Tylenol at 12:30 and we put these sterilizing drops in her ear at this time too. Finally she settled down and got some sleep until about 4:00. She kind of moved a bit at 4:00 but luckily we did get some sleep. I just felt so bad for her. I am calling Dr. Kelly on Monday. I can't have her go thru that again. That is her 4 rupture this winter and it is brutal watching her have to go through the pain. Hopefully we can get tubes for her soon. We were trying to avoid tubes, but after last night I have just realized it is inevitable.
Shawn took Alegra to the instacare this morning to get her some antibiotics. She has been on Cefdinir the last 2 ruptures so the doctor prescribed Amox-Clav antibiotic and we had to get more sterilization drops (which are super expensive) and the name of those is Ciprodex.
