Cruz's Birthday Weekend

Cruz turned 6 years old yesterday, Sunday May 5th!  I can't believe my little man is 6.  It is kind of bitter sweet for the parents.  We are excited he is growing and learning and getting bigger, but sometimes I just wish he would stay little forever.  We had a busy and fun birthday weekend.  Friday right after school the kids and I went to "This is the Place" park.  We like to visit the animal babies there and to ride the ponies. This week Grammy went with us. Shawn was on a long bike ride after work,  so after visiting the animals we went out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. The kids love the macaroni there!  Saturday finally came!  On Saturday Cruz had his birthday party.  Cruz woke up at 6:30 anxiously awaiting his party.  His party wasn't until 2:00, but luckily the day passed pretty quick for him.  He requested McDonalds for lunch, so we brought that home for lunch.  By 1:30 we left to go to the Aquarium for his party. I had rented a party room there and they had an Aquarium worker helped us with the party.  Cruz invited Zoe and Jack our neighbors.  Kaia and Gwen, Kube and Pablo's girls.  Wyatt and Walker, Fran and Steph's boys.  Carter, and some kids from his kindergarten class- Lizzy, Paige, Greyson, Davis.  Walt and Grant were also invited but Grant had a lacrosse game so Macy came instead of Grant, and it was nice to have her help and hold Lexi.  Grammy was invited and came too.  A few more kids were invited from Cruz's class but they didn't come.  It was a good number of kids and Cruz had so much fun. We sang and had cake first. Then we opened presents.  And last, we walked around the Aquarium looking at animals.  It was pretty crowded but the kids did good staying together. The Aquarium worker had a tour/scavenger hunt that she took the kids on in the Aquarium.  I have to say, it was totally worth the money. Easy, no mess at home, and no clean up.

Cruz had invited Carter over for a sleepover after the party. Walt came home with us for a couple hours after the party. The boys had fun playing with lots of the new Legos Cruz got, plus the Fly Wheels, Bey blades, and jumping on the trampoline.  We ate dinner and then made snow cones for dessert.  Shawn had brought home the Star Wars movies to watch and Cruz, Alegra, and Carter watched the first half of the movie Saturday night!

Sunday, Cruz's birthday, the boys were up early again to hit playing with the Legos.  We went to church and then after church the boys had more play time. We had Carter's family over for dinner Sunday night.  It was Carter, his brother Tommy, sister Joley and Brandon and Kelley. It was a lot of fun and a great birthday celebration. I had made Cafe Rio style shredded pork, rice, beans, guacamole, etc., stuff to fill a burrito. Shawn had made homemade salsa too. It was a great Cinco De Mayo Celebration/Birthday Celebration.   It really was a fun-filled weekend and I think Cruz was very happy. I have to say by Sunday night at 10 p.m. when Shawn and I were done cleaning up dinner, I was pretty pooped.  I hope it makes for good memories for Cruz.

Some of the presents Cruz got were, several Lego sets, Fly Wheels, the Temple of Light Lego set,  a nerf gun, some movies, a snow cone machine from Grammy, and Domino Train from Grandpa and Grandma Frye.

We love our Little Man Cruz!

 Movie Time, Saturday Night!
On Sunday we had a Cinco De Mayo Party/6th Birthday Party.  We had to have a piƱata!

Singing happy birthday to Cruz. For his birthday party I just made brownies (which the kids devoured).  But on his actual birthday I made homemade chocolate cake that he requested!

By Monday (right before school) Cruz had already completed one of his harder Lego sets, the Temple of Light!
