DAY 4

We had a 9:30 Capital Tour appointment with an intern, Antonia  from Rep. John Curtis's office.  We walked to the Capital from our hotel.  She gave us a private tour and I am so glad this worked out.  I could have booked one with the capital but they were huge groups and I liked having it more personal. The Capital is beautiful.  At the end of the tour we did go to the House floor to check it out, it was not in session.  We weren't allowed to take our phones so I couldn't get a picture.

After the capital we took an UBER to the Department of Imprinting and Engraving.  We had a 2:00 p.m. train to catch to New York from Union Station, so we needed to use our time wisely. Unfortunately, the next tour time when we showed up was at 12:30. That was too late to make our train. So unfortunately, we didn't see them making money, but we did go into the visitor center to check it out.

Then we walked back to the Hilton and packed up to take the metro to Union Station.
We ate lunch at Union Station and then went to where our train boarded.
It was a 3.5 hour train ride to New York Penn Station.

It was a much needed rest for all of us!

When our train pulled into Penn Station it was crazy town when we got off the train. There were people everywhere.

We decided to get an uber to our hotel because the train station was so crazy with our bags and stuff. We probably should have just figured out the subway system because the traffic in New York is crazy.
We got to our hotel, the Hampton Inn Manhattan Grand Central Station, threw on warmer clothes and walked the 2 blocks to Grand Central to figure out how to take the subway to the Yankees 2nd playoff game verse the Cleveland Guardians.

Once we got on the subway we met this kid Luke on the subway.  He was riding it with his mom to the Bronx.  He was so funny. It was such a fun experience for our first subway ride.
Shawn snapped a picture of Luke. I wish he had the whole interaction on video.  Luke gave us a hug when we got off.  He's in 4th grade and never been outside of NY.

The line to get through security and into the stadium was crazy, there are just so many people in NYC.  The whole experience was incredible.  Unfortunately, a cold snap came through and the game was pretty cold.  It was still amazing.  We left after the 7th inning when the Yankees were up 6-2.  I was a little nervous about the subway situation and getting on a train car.  We were able to smoosh in a car.  We ended up getting back to our hotel at 11 p.m.  Such a fun day!

Lexi bought her Yankees hat at the game!
