Fun Presidents Day turned sour overnight!

We had a really fun day yesterday. It was kind of unexpected and unplanned. The kids and I got up and cleaned the house and started the laundry. Lexi took her morning nap and we all got dressed. We decided to go down to visit the Christus at the Visitors Center on Temple Square. Cruz really wanted to see the Jesus statue during the Christmas lights, but it was just too busy. I promised him I would take him back to see it and we haven't yet. So we ate a quick lunch at home before Lexi woke up and then we all got in the minivan to head downtown. We got there about 12:20 in time to hang out with Grammy for 10 minutes of her lunch break. Grammy bought the kids a cookie (Alegra) and ice cream (Cruz). The kids and I headed over to the North Visitors Center on Temple Square. They have the Christus there and then in the basement they have depictions of Bible stories and Book of Mormon stories. We spent about an hour just looking around. The kids had a blast. We said goodbye to Grammy as we walked back thru the Joseph Smith Building to go to our car. My friend Bobbi had called then and they were just getting to the zoo. We decided to head over to the zoo to meet them. My kids like being with her kids, Cy and Isabelle (10), Penelope (7), and Vienna (4). Bobbi had 2 of her nieces with her too, Gigi (10) and Candy (6). The kids had a blast running around the zoo with them. We got home in time to fix some dinner, but it was a busy fun day out. Lexi just skipped her afternoon nap. I thought she would nap in the stroller while we were at the zoo but there was just too much to look at. At dinner Alegra started complaining that her ear hurt. The 3 kids have had runny noses but I thought we were kind of at the tail end of it all. I called Willow Creek Pediatric and they had a 6:30 p.m. appointment (we go there for after hours care). We weren't sure if she really had an ear infection or if had laid on her ear funny (in hind sight that was a terrible mistake not to take her). She progressively got worse. I called at 8:00 but Willow Creek Pediatrics was closed. She thrashed around and cried about her ear most of the night. It was awful. She stayed in our room and Shawn went to get some sleep in her room. She would fall asleep for a few minutes and then wake up screaming. It hurt her so bad and she was in so much pain. If felt terrible that I really could do NOTHING to help her. We were giving her tylenol and advil but it didn't seem to be doing much. Her one ear finally ruptured at about 4:00 a.m. I thought she would start to sleep then but she really didn't. She finally feel asleep at 6:00 a.m. and slept until 9:30 a.m. When she woke up I looked and her other ear had ruptured too. That is probably why she didn't find comfort when the first one ruptured. I felt horrible. We got her to the doctor the next day at noon. She is now on Cefdinir (oral antibiotic). I have a doctor appointment with the ENT in about a week. She is most likely going to need tubes again. This is her 3rd ear rupture this winter, that is a lot! We will see what the ENT says next week. We are going back to Dr. Kelly, the doctor that put her tubes in when she was like 6 months old.
