Turks and Caicos trip notes
1/26 to 2/3 2013
Flight to Charlotte NC 2 hour layover, then direct to providenciales, T&C
Kids were very well behaved. Red eye flight - kids slept most of both flights.
Beaches resort. Several pools, slides, wave park for surfing or boggy boarding, restaurants were good, nice selection of ordering or buffet style( good fresh fruit selections).. The beach had soft white sand, water was very pretty blue and warm.
Time zone was the east coast so just 2 hour difference.
Italian village family suite, 2nd floor.
Bedroom had kids room at entrance (bunk beds with trundle) also had tv with Xbox 360, then walk through to hall with large bath, the large bedroom with king bed, mini frige(stocked with drinks each day), small deck overlooking main Italian village pool.
Other notes:
All inclusive= food, drinks, hobie sail boats, kayaks, snorkeling, paddle boards, wind surfing, tennis....
Lexi ate sand. Went to room each day for 2 naps. Cried when staff spoke to her.
Alegra enjoyed hot tubbing with cousins, wanted to be held a lot, was into swimming (with her frog floatation) during the talent show she went on stage with Mia and Macy during each of thier songs and danced...
Cruz could do all slides, enjoyed the freedom to order piƱa coladas and smoothies all by himself, whenever. Especially enjoyed sitting at the pool bar and ordering drinks. Liked the buffet - oatmeal, and sugar cereal with one sausage link. Liked the lazy river. Got good enough on the boggy board that he would battle me and try to push me off...he won more than I did!
Family played several pick-up games of beach volleyball - that was fun for mom and dad!
Whole family took a boat out to the Pink Elephant coral reef for a snorkel trip (1hour). We got Cruz all geared up and in the water, but the waves were a bit large for his first snorkel attempt. He enjoyed sitting on the boat with cousins. We were proud he tried! Lexi and Legs stayed on land with a sitter/kids camp.
On Friday morning the Dads and boys took a private boat with quinten and another guy. We dove for live conch shells, then the 2 tour guides got the live conch out of the shell, cut it up. We ate some, raw, the rest Was used for fish bait. We all caught several. Some bone fish, some yellow Tail. The bone fish put up a good fight.
One day dad went on a jog outside the resort. It appeared to be relatively poor. Most of the homes were not much more than shacks, or really wore down. Lots to people just sitting around outside their houses. It was nice to see some of the island conditions.
Return trip was at 3:30. Shuttle got us there 2.5 hours early, sat and waited in the small airport. Mom and grandma bought sunglasses. Flight to Charlotte was good. Once at Charlotte US Airways said the plane they had would not lane in the foggy conditions in slc, but said they would take us to Phoenix then get another plane that could land in SLC. It ended up being about 5 hours longer which made for a really long day. Kids did really good and slept most of the last two flights. Got home about 4am.
Overall, a really enjoyable trip be all! Kids had plenty of options. I would probably not go back, or at least not for a while as there are many other destinations to visit.
