We went to Swan Valley on Thursday after school. We were all really looking forward to getting up there. Shawn was able to come home from work by about 4:00 (he went in super early), Grammy came over to go with us at 3:30, and Cruz got off the bus at 3:47, so we were on the road by 4:15 (Shawn and I had pretty much packed up the night before and that day). We stopped in Pocatello at Jimmy Johns for Sandwiches at about 7. The kids did really well on the drive. Lexi slept the first 2 hours and C and A watched a movie. We took our minivan and moved Alegra's set to the back and Grammy sat in the passenger seat next to Lexi. We got up there about 9 p.m. We woke up to a nice day on Friday. We packed up our skies and headed to Grand Targhee. We all love that family friendly resort. Grammy Raddon and I took turns watching Lexi in the car and the lodge. I got to ski with Shawn, Cruz, and Alegra, and that was really fun for me because I haven't seen Alegra ski in a few months. She has really improved this year. We rode the ski lift up and she could go thru the tree runs Cruz was going thru. She was slower but she was still in total control and she didn't even have on her edgy wedgey. Grammy had fun watching the kids ski too and she did a few runs on the bigger lifts too. All in all it was a very fun ski day. It wasn't blue bird conditions, but they did have some new snow and it was clear enough to see. One run Shawn and I did together was a little tough to see but then the clouds passed and it was good visibility. We ate at our favorite pizza place for dinner in Victor before heading back to Swan Valley.
On Saturday we woke up to snow and grey. It was pretty much a snowy grey day. It was nice to just be able to hang out at the cabin. Grammy and I were able to take a walk in the snow. We tubed behind the ATV (dad driving) and dad pulled the kids around the cabin in a sled. It was just a relaxing day of playing outside and in. We went for a little drive in the afternoon to get square ice cream and see the lake, but it was so grey and white it was hard to see it very well. We saw lots of deer on our drive though. That night we made veggie omelets for dinner and invited Bert over to eat and hang out. Three white tailed deer ran thru our yard and we were able to get a picture of them.
Today (Sunday) we woke up to clear blue skies but COLD. We basically went to church and then packed up to come home. The River looked so pretty this morning with the sun shining on it and all the white swans. It really is so pretty and peaceful up there. The kids did great on the ride home too. We stopped at Cheesecake for dinner since we were coming thru town at about dinner time.
We had a great time and it was fun having Grammy along. She loves it up there so much and misses being able to go up there with my dad. Lots of times I think he is near when we go up there, that place just reminds me of him so much, sometimes it just hurts because I miss him so much and I wish he was around to watch our kids ski and play at the cabin and to be with mom!!! We are so lucky to be able to have that place to go to because of my parents!
