Rebecca's Engagement!!!!!

Rebecca is engaged. I will tell you all about it. It happened on our trip in Turks and Caicos. On the next post I will write all about our trip in Turks and Caicos. So, we left Friday night January 25th. All of the Utah Raddon/Frye's were on the same flight. We flew US Airways to Charlotte, North Carolina. Our flight was supposed to leave at 11:59 p.m. Friday night. We ended up being delayed until about 1:15 a.m., but they tell you that you should still be at the airport just in case the flight were to leave on time. So we waited at the airport. We boarded and flew to Charlotte, a 3 hour flight. In Charlotte, we had a 2.5 hour layover. The kids did great on the plane, all 3 of them slept. Not so much for Shawn or I. Then they were mostly awake in the airport (except Cruz) and with the 2 hour time difference it was basically breakfast time. So we ate breakfast in the airport, while Cruz slept in the stroller. We then boarded our flight for Turks. It was only a 2 hour and 15 minute flight and again the kids slept. Rebecca was sitting next to me and she kept talking about how great it would be if Dave would surprise her in Turks. Originally, about 2 months ago when they were getting more serious Dave was invited to come and bought a ticket. Then his company got bought out and a LARGE sales meeting was planned for that same week and he was NOT allowed to miss it. So, my mom cancelled his portion and he was trying to get money back for his ticket. The Thursday before we left mom and I and the Alegra and Lexi went to lunch. I started to say how bummed we were that Dave was not going to be able to come. Grammy broke out into tears. She told me that his boss was allowing him to miss the sales meeting. He had called my mom a few weeks ago to ask her approval for Rebecca's hand in marriage. He wanted to ask my mom in person but he didn't want to ruin the surprise. My mom spilled the beans when I was talking to her that Thursday because Dave was going to use my grandma's ring to propose because they are getting a ring made and it wasn't done yet. My mom had to get me the ring before we left on the trip. Plus Dave's flight was landing like a half hour after ours and my mom wanted me to distract Rebecca in the airport so she possibly wouldn't see him. Plus, Dave was to find our room when he got there to get the ring. Luckily we never saw Dave at the airport. But on the plane Rebecca and I were talking and she was saying that maybe he was going to surprise her. Some of her friends had made her think that and mom slipped a little the night before by saying something like, "do you know where my pajama pant bottoms are I don't want Dave to see." Or something to that affect. Rebecca was saying this to me on the plane and I looked at her and said, "Rebecca, mom would have told me if he was coming and he isn't, she hasn't said a word." Plus sometimes mom says crazy things! By the time we left the airport in Turks and Caicos(I heard Rebecca asking mom why she said that, mom had come up with a good explanation by then) Rebecca was pretty convinced Dave wasn't coming. Plus she had visibly and audibly heard mom cancel his reservation a month back. Anyway, mom said her spirit just dropped. We got to our room and Dave phoned a few minutes later. Because neither of us new the resort and i didn't really know where Rebecca's room was, it was a little tricky, plus the resort was huge and we were so unfamiliar with it. I tried finding Dave and couldn't so then he came to our room eventually. He thought about doing it there but there is nothing romantic about a hotel room. We decided that we would get Rebecca down to the beach and he could come walking up to her. So I called mom and Rebecca's room and had them meet at our room in 20 minutes. We got Russ and Ali and their kids together (they were next to our room) and we decided to go down to the beach to look at the bluest water I had ever seen. We were kind of just walking along the beach and then randomly Rebecca sat down in a beach chair. No sooner did she sit down than I saw Dave about 100 yards away running over. He was able to run kind of behind Rebecca's beach chair and kneel down next to her. The Utah Frye/Raddon's were all watching this and finally Dave touched Rebecca's shoulder and she looked over at him and was in complete shock! It was awesome. Shawn took pictures. He then asked her if she would be sealed to him. It was so special and so amazing. I know he is the guy for her. I am sure my dad had alot to do with getting them to meet! It was awesome. In Dave's defense he did want to wait until all the family was there, the California Raddon's were getting in late that night, but I just didn't know how long we could keep up the secret, it worked out perfect I thought!!!
